Most unusual wedding!
As most of you know Florida notaries are able to perform weddings, and I do quite a lot. I have done them in the correctional facility and once was called at 11pm to go to a 7-11 parking lot to marry a couple (I talked them into going to the beach across from the 7-11)
But today I was sitting around in my bathrobe (hey it's Sunday - and I didn't feel like getting dressed today!) someone came to the side door so my husband went to answer. He came back to me and said there was a young girl wanting to arrange for me to do her marriage ceremony. I told him to ask her to wait a few minutes while I got dressed. He said it was just a young girl so not to worry about being in my bathrobe. OK - I went into the dining room (which is where the side door is) and it was a young girl I had notarized the marriage application for back at the end of September. She asked if I could perform the ceremony for her and her fiancé. I told her I would be happy to. When and where? - Here and now, her fiancé was in the car waiting!!!!! I asked her if she would mind giving me a few minutes to get dressed. She said, Oh don't worry about that, you are fine!!

Anyone reminded of the Justice of the Peace, in the middle of the night, just off the highway that leads out of Dodge?

LOL Susan - makes you think of the eloping couples.
Wish I could do more just like this one. Groom asked me how much it would be, and I told him $30, he asked if that was all. I explained that Florida law does not allow us to charge more than the clerk of the court, unless there were other circumstances such as traveling etc. He asked were they allowed to pay more. I said sure. They gave me $60. I had my husband take a couple of pictures of them and I am going to print them out. Thought they should at least have a photo taken on their wedding day!

appreciated your services.......so did you stay in your bathrobe? My hubby and I married well over 30 years ago in Vegas, grabbed a couple of drunks off the road as witnesses and I have only one Polaroid of that day, it is in pretty bad shape now but we often look at it, we wore blue jeans and tee shirts...... I'm sure this couple will also appreciate the photo you send them.

No, didn't stay in my bathrobe. I was tempted to though.

To the Bride and Groom, A GOOD LIFE!
Just shows to go ya, We Got Married in a Fever...it's not the trappings that seals the deal, it's the true commitment.

I know the feeling...
My husband and I were in the Marines and we got married at the Justice of the Peace during lunch time.
