Nations Direct.....SHOVE IT

Got a call, email docs for $60 and 30 miles from me. She told me that she had plenty of people that do it in my area for $60. I hope Stacie is happy with my leftovers. She can have them.

We got our fee plus $50 for a late night appointment last night.

We did turn them down on the first call 2 hours prior.

They will meet your fees if....

they cannot find someone else and for some reason they need to get the job done. I work for them and do not lower my fees. There are few notaries in my area.

perhaps the relies to requests for a reduction such as this one should be,

"Of course I can do it for $10 less. What service would you like me to eliminate? Double checking my work? I can do that but if something is missed, the financial responsibility of getting something resigned will surely rest with your company. Responsibility for dropping the package to be removed from me to the borrower? No phone calls from the borrower to the LO? Any question whatsoever and I am out the door"

Of course teh real answer is to continue to search for the higher paying companies and never work for the low payers. Also, don't allow them to 'discuss' with you their issues of 'others', 'volume', 'a favor' , etc. State your fee and if they start with the jibberish tell them politely and firmly your fee is your fee. If they call back you know they are desperate. Raise your fee by $25 and tell them you've had a price increase. If they ahve to get that 'approved' and they call again, another $25. Since they are so low to start with, you can only win. If they don't approve your fees, so what? They aren't going to give you 'volume' when your fee is higher than their base anyway.

LOL, maybe I should try that, but I haven't worked for them in a while. They keep calling though and now it's starting to annoy me. Good ideas, that should at least stop the calls. Smile

They've called 3 or 4 times the last week

First time, "Can you do a double, o/n docs for $60?" Ha ( I actually laughed at her), no, sure can't, my fee'd be xxx. Oh we'll call you back.
Then yesterday, "can you do a refi, edocs, tomorrow at 8 am , it pays $60?" "No, my fee'd be xx", they call me later on and "can you please do it for $10 less than what I'm asking for? We've sent you farther before for less." "Sorry, that was before I was getting xxx per job." "Who can afford to pay you that? Title Companies? I wish we could offer those fees. You know we have people in Milwaukee who do 60-70 signings a month and that's a lot of money." I said "I don't want to do that many jobs for $60 a job. I want to work smarter, not harder, so no thanks. I'm sticking to my guns here." "OK then."

They called me today too, bleh! Next time they call, I'll have to repeat myself and tell them not to call me unless they can't find anyone else.

Cassie, the retort to "can you do it for $10 less than you

are asking for" is "can you do it for $10 more than you are willing to pay, I mean hell its only 10 lousy bucks, How cheap can you get" make sure that there is a big smile in your voice when you say it. It just tears them up! ;-D. ROTFLMAO (sometimes they make up the diff) If you are going to lose the deal anyway you might as well have some fun with it.

I haven't worked for them but I am curious

Is this a company who accepts fees from Title Companies for say $100 and then hires Loan Signers for $40-$60? I remember a company called "What's Up Docs" that use to contract with Stewart Title in 2002 for $95 and paid $50 to the loan signer?

They, of course, went out of business because there is no margin of profit with $40 and this company went out of business the beginning of 2005 and they were located in Lake Elisnore, Calif.

The other side of my question is: are they just a company who makes $175- $250 per signing and has no conscience about paying their signers $60 or so for an edoc signing?

Re: I haven't worked for them but I am curious

They get 175$ from Home loan funding and used to "offer" signers 40$ out of that. So yeah, no conscience...

Re: I haven't worked for them but I am curious

I am teaching a notary class (in Calif) on Saturday and a loan signing class on Sunday and I am going to recommend that, in my personal opinion, I would not work for this company.

I think this is Corporate Greed!
I have had my busiest week as a loan signer ever!! There is no reason to work for a company like this in Calif. I don't know about the refi market in the rest of the U.S.?

The loans just change over time and this is a great time to be a loan signer in So. Calif and in particular the Inland Empire.

There is so much equity in the properties with people taking so much money out of their homes that these loans are easy to get signed.
Go back to 2002 and the most important thing I had to do was collect a "cashiers check" for $3,000- $4,000 because the borrower had to pay for their refi!

I hadn't done a 2nd mortgage in Calif for over 3 years and this has certainly changed and I am doing all kinds of Reverse Mortgages for the Elderly.
As I said the loans just change!!

Market yourself and you will always stay busy in our industry (only talking about Calif).

That's why I told him I was sticking to my guns, but I will also try that, everytime they ask if I'm available, I always say yes, but the question is can you pay my fee? LOL Thanks Charles.

Nations Direct: Different experience

Nations Direct has paid my fee (nowhere near $40!), and paid within a reasonable time.

Guess it must be that the number of NSAs per square mile is lower in CT.

or maybe it's just that there aint many square miles in CT at all...I haven't checked, but I'm pretty sure my county is bigger than your State (Monterey CA, where my office is)... and I cover the whole bloomin' thing.
