Printer trouble

I hope someone out there can help me. I'm not very tech literate and am having trouble with my HP 1320. I have been printing very slow, so I downloaded the PCL5 driver from the HP website. Now I can't change any printing properties and get an error message : Function address caused a protection fault.

I hope this makes sense to someone.

I'm not sure why you would download the PCL driver???? What program are you printing from? Adobe etc.

I'm not very literate w/this either but I know that I had alot of problems w/Adobe 7 so I switched to Adobe 6 and it solved my slow printing problems.

As far as you problem goes, maybe you can refresh your system to an earlier date or delete what you done and start from scratch. Do you have the original disc that came w/the printer?

Sorry I can't be more helpful. I have the same printer and I've never had to download the driver from the site.

Thanks Laurie. I am using Adobe 6. I just uninstalled everything and am starting over reloading the printer.

I guess I would rather print slow, than not at all.

Hello. Your problem is simple, yet my recommended fix won't help you out for a few days. The standard out-of-the-factory HP 1320 lacks sufficient memory. Sure, it comes with 16M, but 11.5M are used by the connection to run on windows XP (damn you, Bill Gates). You need to go to a website like memory.com or something similar and order the highest memory chip you can, say 164M worth for about $50-$60. Then, you'll be printing out at lightning speed. Just gimme a call when you get your memory module in the mail, and I'll talk you into installing it. See profile or look me up using zip code 06340 and I'll assist you from there!

That's the first answer I've heard that makes any sense. Thanks, I may be contacting you!
