Question

2hr travel, no contact with borrower, edocs, 80+ miles one way, because of distance I will wait 2hrs for borrower to show or contact me. I was instructed to go regardless of contact with borrower so.....If it's a no show I requested a full fee for time, travel time and docs. Does this sound unreasonable?

Not at all unreasonable. Just be absolutely sure they put that in writing!

Ya know, they did. But didn't sound happy about it at all!!! I don't think I have made friends with this company. Oh well. I too have to make a living. I have been burnt more times by companies that say they are going to pay a trip fee and they don't. I have six companies right now I am fighting with for just a trip fee! Perhaps this company is not like that, but to stay in business, nothing exists unless it IS in writing.

Thanks for responding Lee.

Not unreasonable at all! They asked you to go whether you had contact with the borrower or not. If it is a no-show, they still should pay your full fee.

Janel, Re: Question

I dislike that "go regardless of contact with borrower".
I feel much more comfortable talking with the borrower
beforehand.

In my opinion, companies that say this, are the first to
balk when it comes to paying as promised. They only
want to pay a "print fee" and/or "travel fee", but not
the full fee.

Re: Janel, Re: Question

Well said. Too many times even when confirming app't with borrowers, they are unaware of the app't, hadn't spoken with LO in 'weeks,' did not agree to terms, and many other responses. In one case, I was told point blank in the confirmation call that she wasn't signing. Instructed to go to the house regardless (with full fee), only to have door slammed in my face. What a waste of resources. I've done it, but I'm just never comfortable showing up cold. (And in my neck of the boonies, directions are often essential...driveway doesn't look like a driveway, but just go between the two big trees about 4 miles upriver just after Swanson's old place....)

Re: Question-Janel do you generally accept work orders 80

miles one way, I'm only curious......the fee would have to be pretty steep for me to accept that......again not being sarcastic only curious....
