Recommendations on a Bluetooth headset?

Does anyone use a Bluetooth headset with their cell phone? Any recommendations as to make and model? I've heard some of them generate a lot of distortion, especially when driving.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Thus far, every person using a bluetooth that I talk to has terrible reception. My bosses walk around with a "bluetooth" techno piece plugged into their ear all the time. I will ask what they use. If it is relevant I will post.

I know these are their own desk phones. Do not know about cellular...that is why I say "relevant."

Good morning Mike! I use my bluetooth earpiece headset when driving all the time now. It's great! I haven't had any problems with "distortion" but do have to repeat my commands to call up a contact person's name on occassion (mostly the word "mom"Wink <Smile I can make and receive calls without having to look down to key in a phone number or answer a call. My bluetooth was provided through Verizon and the "earpiece set-up" is comfortable and easy to work with. I love it Smile

Mike,
I've been using my bluetooth for over a year. It's a Motorola. I don't see a model number on it, so I'll try to find the book. I got it at Verizon and I believe it was around $100. They had less expensive ones, but I chose the "high end" one and have not had any problems with distortion or people having a hard time hearing/understanding me or me with them. It is not a "bud" that fits in the ear but fits over the ear.

My only complaint is if you originally begin the call using the bluetooth (with either receiving or placing the call), you can't change and finish the call directly on the cell itself-- you are stuck with the bluetooth for the call.

I have a Motorola H500 no problems

Though I have yet to set up voice command I do like it. It goes over the ear. I haven't had any problems with sound quality. On my phone it has a function where you can transfer the sound from Bluetooth to cell vise versa quite easily. It was 50 bucks. Well worth the cost. I liked the more expensive model but I'm a get what gets the job done type of gal so I got the less expensive model. The phone I bought came with an earpeice which I hated. After 3 days I went back to the store and got the Bluetooth.

Re: I have a Jabra

and I have used it for about 2 years. I have not had a problem with sending or receiving quality but it bothers my ear if I wear it for a long time.
I purchased a Motorola Bluetooth blnc IHF1000 Car Kit and I love it.
Hands free operation and voice dialing with very good sound quality. I installed the speaker that came with the kit but it can be installed to work with the radio.
It cost about $170 plus installation of $80.

I think I have the same one.

I needed to buy a new phone that was compatible with a bluetooth, so I got the Motorola RAZR. I love it, so convenient. Only problem I have is when my phone is within 6 feet of my computer, it (my computer) starts buzzing and making feedback noises. I kinda wonder what this is doing to me when I'm using the BT. Oh well, if I ever need to be rebooted, I guess I'll know why!

Re: Motorola H700

Mike,
I found my book and it is a Motorola H700. They might have new models now. Another reason I like it is that the boom is foldable and quite compact and doesn't wrap across your face.

Carolyn, depending on the type of cell phone you have (I have a blackberry) you should be able to enable or disable to bluetooth during the call. That's a feature I needed because I get complaints that I sound far away or even muffled, so disable the bluetooth during the call so I can talk directly into the cell.

Re: LaShawn

I have a Motorola E815 Vcast phone. I've never found anything in the manual to enable or disable the bluetooth during the call, so just assumed it wasn't possible after loosing a few calls when trying to switch from bluetooth to phone. Neither the phone nor the bluetooth were cheap, so maybe I'll just play around with the bluetooth and/or phone setup some more. If nothing else, I can always resort to asking Verizon -- or, I've never watched the CD that came with the phone--hmmmm.

I also have the Motorola 8500 . . I too love it! I had my first one for a little over a year when it finally stopped working. I am on my second Motorola (w/Verizon). It works beautifully. I don't know what I did without it! Love it, love it, love it! Although, I do get a ton of funny looks from people who think I am talking to myself! My hair covers up the headset, so people think I nuts! LOL! Smile They are definitely worth their weight in gold! And they are a business write off I believe.

Thanks for all the replies - looks like Motorola is the way to go. I have Verizon service and a Verizon phone, so with any luck I'll have the same experience.

I lost an assignment yesterday because the call came in while I was driving on the Expressway. Kinda hard to juggle the phone, find the "hands-free" device, and keep the tires on the road at the same time when you're doing 65... I called them back within 10 minutes, and they had already filled the assignment - so it's time to step up the technology a bit.

On a related note, I've seen some comments about missing assignments because the SS is calling your home number when you're on the road. My service provider (I have VOIP at home from my cable company) offers an enhanced call forwarding they call "Follow Me" - once you turn it on, all calls to your home phone will ring there and on up to 3 other numbers simultaneously; the call is connected to the first phone that picks it up. Comes in handy for situations like this. Check with your phone company to see if they offer something similar.
