Relocating to New State
I'm curious, has anyone here moved to another state and re-established your signing business? I have such a good business going here in Kern County CA, and our move to an area that borders Cleburne County / White County AR is finally on track for January.
We were supposed to move a year ago and Lee in AR was helpful at that time with info. I'm getting a little nervous about starting over and know it will be a challenge for sure. Also our new home is in a much more rural area, so that will definitely be a factor.
So, if you relocated, did it take you long to build up to a reasonable success again?

I relocated in June by 100 miles...still in the same state, but definitely in different service areas. I will tell you that it was very frustrating, but after about 2 months, things started to come back around. I emailed all or most of the companies that I work for, as well as, made some personal calls to the ones that I am on a first-name basis with. I changed my profile on here from a "you knew me from here, now I am serving these counties". Even after you get them to start calling with your new area, make sure that Accounting has your new info too. I am still getting forwarded checks from my old address, for work done in my new area. Stick with it, give yourself at least a couple months to know that your business is going to suffer and you will get there. One of the best things that I did was to check out who my competition was going to be. I emailed him and said - hey, rather than be stiff competition, do you want to trade off on the business we can't handle? I did that with a friend before and it worked out great for both of us. There are always going to be times that you are unavailable to work, and I am glad to help someone else out. Turns out, this was a smart move for me....he is busy, has had things come up and has referred them to me. I, in turn, have had a few things come up and sent the business his way. Hope this helps and good luck to you on your move!
