Some companies! GRRR

Today was a busy day, closing wise, I did get a break long enough to run home and grab a bite to eat while printing docs. Anyway, get this call, " Can you do a closing at 7?" told them I could squeez it in, asked what kind, " oh, a simple Countrywide. Have you done CW loans before?" I tell her yes, she says she'll send the confirm. right over, well when the confirm come in I opened it, and it has a whole page of copy this, fax the whole pkg as soon as loan closes, split the package and send to 2 diff addresses. It had only been about 5 minutes since the scheduler had called so I called them back, got some idiot guy that gave me the riot act about cancelling at the last minute etc. like this had been scheduled for days instead of 5 minutes, he ended with, thanks for giving us time to find someone else, thanks for nothing." He really had a cow when I told him it would cost a whole lot more than the original fee for what they wanted especially since the scheduler lied to me. He then said ALL CW loans required the fax, copy split, to which I said BS. He got all pissed because I wouldn't agree with him on that point.
After we hung up, about 3 mins pass and the phone rings again, this time this woman tries once again to convince me that ALL CW loans required that. I told her that I did CW all the time and SHE is the only one that requires all the BS. She then tells me I don't know what i'm talking about because SHE handles all of CW loans. I told her the other companies I work for would sure be interested to know that. She then informs me that this is the Full Spectrum division, I said "ok, and.....". She was extremely upset that I wouldn't take thier crappy fee to print docs, drive 70 miles r/t, fax, copy and split the WHOLE pkg.
I guess to their way of thinking, the only closing I had to do was thiers. I could also, kinda see being upset if they had scheduled this hours ago and if I cancelled at the last minute, but that was not the case. She ended her call with, "You know you won't get any more calls?" Ahhhhh, my wittle heart is broken.
Of course, I was to push my other 4 closings to the back so I could run home and take care of their pkg. Sure I will. Also got the old line of " We have notaries that do this all the time for $125.00" Oh well, not my fault these other notaries don't know how much it costs to do business.
Just had to VENT! SOME of these SS really need to get over themselves! AND fire the LYING schedulers! Simple, quick little CW my A**!
Ok! I'm over it! Hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving!!

I never had that fax back/split pkg. request for CW loan until early this year. I did the first one and it was so awful that I asked any time that title co. called if it was "the CW's that require faxing back and split pkg." and then give them a "no" answer. It was such a pain. I had to wait until they called back with "approval" and the person told me that they didn't like the way the BO's "2's" looked (for the date of Feb.) She wanted me to go back out and have the BO draw a line through the "2" and initial, then rewrite it. I said that was not an option, they looked like "2's" to me, there was no other number it even resembled than a "2" and I wasn't going to drive back to their house for that, they'd think I was some kind of a nut! Imagine! The horrible penmanship we see, I have so many people sign their signature in a squiggle and they want to send me back out b/c they don't like the way someone writes their numbers! Please! I'm glad you turned that down b/c the same thing might have happened and you were much too busy to deal with that!
One of my vents for tonite was the LO that called me about an earlier closing (for tonite) that was cancelled by the title. co. b/c they didn't get the docs in time. They were leaving early for the holiday and weren't waiting around. He was asking me for their cell #, which I didn't have, b/c he wanted to find out if they were open on Fri. Then he said they would get the paperwork together for Fri. (I guess when he finds out if the title co is open) and I'd be going back out and signing with todays' date. I will? Ah....I don't think so!

Bonnie,

What a bunch of bull that company gave you about CW.

I do them all the time without split this and fax that.

There are one or two companies who want the fax and split stuff. They say the lender requires it.

That's a crock. That may be the deal they cut with the lender...but 90% of the CW stuff I do for various outlets...has none of the "extra stuff."

And for the remaining 10%..I either turn them down cold...or they pay dearly for the fax and split stuff if I have the time.

Best and Happy Thanksgiving.

I agree. Most of my closings are CW. Clean & simple. I take all I can get.

I do too! Love the tiny pkg and very rarely to I ever come across someone that has been lied to by the LO with these. They go really fast. That's why I thought I could slip this one into tonights schedule w/o a hitch.

You too Pan!

There is 1 company that asks me to do that, they call maybe twice a year and always remind me about the splits. However, they don't require the faxbacks! And they pay very well for it.
But I agree with you! I thought they must think they're awfully special since they "handle ALL of CW's loans."
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving! Smile

Countrywide on the move last night..

I had a last minute Countrywide last night too. Only problem was, I couldn't print the documents. They scanned the documents onto a PDF file and I had to mess with the properties to print them, then it kept freezing up when I went to print it! Tried about 6 or 7 times and even tried printing only 30 pgs. at a time. Didn't work, spooling into infinity...GRR, so I had to reschedule the signing for noon today cause the man was going on a Thanksgiving trip and finally (this morning) found out that I had to save the documents first, then print. A learning experience but no splitting documents, faxing or any of that. You were right to jack up the price for all that jazz.

Elizabeth--just a heads up to potential problems

I've been through two of those nightmarish situations with image pdf docs. Both times I ended up at Kinko's, then on to my signings (with pushed-back appointment times, of course). The first time, I was told it would work if I saved to my PC, but that wasn't true.

After last Friday's fiasco, I came on here and researched the issue, and have solved my problem (I hope!) by adding my HP 4000 printer with two additional drivers: the PCL5e and PDF995. Yesterday I had another image pdf sent to me, which failed after four pages using my PCL6 driver, but once I switched to the PCL5e, it was smooth sailing.

Here are some messages I found on this forum and saved for my future reference: 119689, 119651, 122485, 138985. Or you could do a search.

One warning: At the signing last night, I found that one of the pages of the DOT had some gibberish on it in one small area where there must have been some sort of breakdown in the code in the print process. Luckily, the borrower's copy was good, so I switched the pages. So, I'll be watching for that on all printed pages of those image pdf docs going forward.

I'm fairly new to this forum, so I apologize in advance if the above were the obvious first steps that you've already taken which did not solve your issue.

Mini-rant: Why, oh why do "they" drop these image docs on us with nary a warning or hint? You know they have to know they're problematic for those who have never encountered them.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Oops! I forgot--And a BIG THANKS to all on here who share--

their experiences and expertise so we can use this forum as our very helpful, useful, valuable resource for any and every issue!

I'm new at SA work, and without this resource, I would not have had the success I've experienced to date. No exaggeration.

I timed myself on the the.....

last countrywide full-spectrum copy, fax and split requirements and found it took me 1/2 hour to do this. Not as much time as I thought I was spending. I do need a new copy / fax machine as I have to feed one page at a time. If I could just stack the faxes and copy stacks, hit send or copy then walk away then these CW/FS jobs wouldn't be so bad. I have not been charging extra for these but have been considering it. After timing myself, I think I'm O.K. with my regular prices and just accept the good with the bad as problems at the table can be way more time consuming then these copy, fax, split requests.

Have a great Thanksgiving, Larry

Re: I timed myself on the the.....

It wasn't so much the time it takes to do the FS loans, it was the fact that I had told her I had a close schedule , but since it was a "regular" CW loan, I could slide it in, however it ended up not being a regular countrywide. That's what really ticked me off, she just wanted to say she got it scheduled and didn't mind lying to do it! Like I said, the other co that I do these for a couple of times a year, I don't mind doing, they always let me know it's "one of those" when they call. But they also understand that I will not take those when I have a heavy schedule and they don't have a problem with that.
I do charge extra for these because it is more work and takes more time, copy paper, fax supplies, ink etc. Not a ton more, but I figure my time is worth something. I, too, have a slower than molasses fax machine. However since it's so rare that I have to fax anything, it just isn't cost effective to spend a lot of money on a better one. JMO

Countrywide versus Countrywide Full Spectrum

"Normal" Countrywide refinancings are (usually) easy. It is the Countrywide *Full Spectrum* document packages that require fax backs and also splitting the return documents in two packages. I'll do either, as long as the fee is adjusted upward for the Countrywide Full Spectrum!

Re: Countrywide versus Countrywide Full Spectrum

When I get a Full Spectrum I adjust my fee also. My experience with CW is "trying" to get the darn docs. If I'm really busy I just don't take them anymore. You could do 3 closings in the time it takes CW to get you the docs. Yuck! When you think about it's really not our job to be splitting pkgs-copies and faxing to everyone and their dog. That's their job. When we do it saves them time so they pass it on to us. Anyone that is not charging for these extras is losing a lot of money. Personally I think they are just a waste of valuable time.
