Transcontinental Title - Clearwater Florida
I accepted a job from them. They sent me a six page closing confirmation with all kinds of threats. If you don't do this...if you don't do that...with lots and lots of exclamation points. "If you don't send the package back in a 'Fed Ex legal sized reusable envelope, your fee will be reduced by $25'. etc. Then they sent me a six page vendor signup package.
They did not inculde the borrowers telephone # because they did not want me to speak with the borrower. Something didn't feel right with this company.
I called them back and told them I had made a mistake in my scheduling and asked them to re-assign it to another closer.
Did I do the right thing? (The closing was 56 miles away.) They agreed to my fee, but still...

Re: No complaints here either
The reason they do not want us calling the brw is because of a history of certain NSA's trying to play LO by going over terms with the brw's prior to the scheduled appt. and end up blowing the deal. And due to the influx of inexperienced NSA's not knowing how to do their job correctly, they do include "the list" of expected performances. Most of us experienced agents already know and abide by what they are asking us to do, because we already apply this to all our clients. When they agree to my fee I am confident I will be paid as agreed in a prompt manner.

I have never worked for them but why beat around the bush
Tell them that you just don't want to work for them. You have a contractor relationship with the poeple who ask you to work for them. If you don't give them feedback things don't change. I refuse to work for a lot of companies whose confirmations are unreasonable. I'm not making a judgement on Trascontinental here but you just need to tell them that you don't do aleatory contracts (unreasonably one sided) and move on. Telling them that you have a scheduling conflict resolves nothing and you may have found out that they would have changed their contract for you. I often find that to be the case. Frequently if I don't like something the company scheduling the transaction will adjust their requirements and everything is just fine! They'll realize that you conduct yourself professionaly and will treat you like a professional.

Charles is absolutely correct.
We are INDEPENDENT Contractors. That means 'we make our own rules'. Yes, the hiring entity can make their own rules, too. Then we negotiate and either agree-- or agree to disagree. You will never know unless you try. BTW, not beating around the bush also means you tell the likes of SOX exactly why you won't work for them or tell somebody else that 'trip fees' are unacceptable or, or, or... whatever floats your boat. We are not the only people who go along to get along--they frequently do, too, but only if you call them on it.

I do work for TCT. I told them that I will follow their directions and if my signing was not accurate I guarntee that I will fix it. They have never charged me for anything and I believe the reason they have these threats is because of the massive notary mess ups and are tired of feeling like they may lose clients. They are not lowballers, but they want the job done right. This is one of the many reasons TCs go to SS's, thinking that the SS screens...haha

Re: I have never worked for them but why beat around the bush
I've worked for them too, no complaints. I was taken back by their requirements too, but I figured what the hell, I do that stuff already. As Charm and others have said, they put those things their confirmations in respect to the people out there who don't know what they are doing. I do my job, they pay as agreed with no lowball figures, I'm happy. Not like the $50.00 signing from another company whilch I turned down today.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a company's expecta-
tions of a job done right. I have no idea what happened to work ethic in this country but it seems that there is very little. I see pride in workmanship so infrequently today in this business and in virtually any other business. Yes! Charm makes an excellent point they expect the job done right. It's their money and the job should be done right. I forget who said it but it's "Do or Do not, there is no try" You get it done and you get it done right. Thats why the networks are successful they guarantee their work!

Used to be good - now lowballer
TCT used to be terrific. Paid good fees. Paid quick.
Then FAT/FASS bought TCT.
Now the fees are low, support is crap, pay is slow.
You did right by blowing TCT off.
The vendor pkg would have put you in FASS' database. Who needs that.

Re: Lee - reconsider since TCT was bought by FASS early this yr
that's fine, but I am still getting my fees. I've been in their database for 2 years. They haven't lowballed me. If you have a personal experience, that's fine, but blanket statements like this are not a good idea.

My experience has been same as Jason's, they used to pay 140
for what they are now trying to get for $60. When they call me they never say its TCT, alway's FASS. I used to do a lot for them.

FASS called me on Monday for a Saturday signing 3 miles away with o/n docs. I just talked to BO and they already received the docs. FASS met my fee without hesitation. I guess the only reason is b/c it's a Countrywide.

Re: My experience has been same as Jason's, they used to pay 140
I'm always curious when people say 'they meet my fee' what those fees are. Several years ago I was a TCT vendor receiving a decent volume of work at $175. In the spirit of cooperation I went to $150 when requested - no more work so I occasionally wonder how low they've gone. Again, those who say the fee is 'decent' or 'meet my fee' , what is that fee?
By the way, I did have my fee docked $25 one time for use of the wrong shipping package - my own fault - I didn't read the instructions properly and I thought all cardboard ones were acceptable - received a phone call that I would get a reduction in my check for that little misstep on my part. Made me mad but the instructions clearly spelled it out so no one to blame but me.

Sue, I alway's wonder too, "meet my fee" could be anything.
I hope we can all be more specific on this otherwise "my fee" could be a measly amount to others. Have a good SOM (start of month)! I am punching holes and filling candy bags to be ready so when I am out doing signing's I can pop in on TC's to say Hi!
