Warning for new Dells and SBC Yahoo Browser

Had my new laptop on for ten minutes and stuck the Sbc Yahoo Browser CD in to install. Computer locked up and it was all over. Would not restart, the dreaded Blue Screen. After a couple hours with the tech it was decided that I needed them to send me some discs to wipe my drive and start over. The problem was that the computer came with protection and if you try to install Yahoo Browser which also has protection it kills the machine. This conflict is warned against if you go to the SBC Yahoo download site but I had a CD so didn't need to download it. You need to uninstall any protection on your computer before you install the Yahoo Browser which has a protective suite.

I was very excited that my new laptop arrived 2 days early, now I'm bummed.

I have a Dell lapop I purchased new in March this year.
I installed the "new" Yahoo Browser from the download not knowing it was IE version 7 with the Yahoo toolbar. After "ndwa" mentioned that Dynamic Dox doesn't work with IE7 I immediately uninstalled it. However the Yahoo toolbar remained. Having gone back to IE6 I noticed that my browser was "locking up" alot, really alot. I just removed the Yahoo toolbar and now IE6 is working well again.

CompUSA just called to tell me my replacement HP 6120br notebook is ready to be picked up. I love my Toshiba 17" TV tuner highend loaded it became too heavy to travel with it.

the problem I purchased it in 4/04 and once I brought it in for repair the repairs became often over 90 days lost this week alone the lemon laws is same problem on the 4th time I can request a replacement I did and CompUSA was wonderful about replacing it.

I bought my first desktop computer early 90's and always got it serviced there reasonable fee

Kathy, some of your smaller computer sales and service

companies keep programs on file, especially some of the Microsoft ones. May I suggest that you try Firefox. Paul (PAW) here suggested I try it and I think the program is great. I initially had a few minor problems with it displaying some pages that were designed for IE but Paul sugested a plu-in and I'm using Firefox as my only browser now. Its a small file and I find it operates faster, in fact there was one particular site I had to keep reloading to display pages loads just fine in Firefox.

Re: I updated to IE7 and want to go back to IE6. I know how

I just did this. Uninstall IE7 using Add/Remove Programs from your Control Panel. IE6 will be there when you're done. Let me add that I didn't remove IE6 before I installed IE7.

What do you mean by "protection" - antivirus software?
