Why does my Dell 1710N load as a PS3?

I thought it should be a PCL 6, but for some reason it comes up as a PS3 (whatever that means)
I am still having problem with it, so I thought I would unintall and reinstall, but still no luck.
It continually jams when I first use it, which is super annoying.
Any new suggestions? I have printed out msg 139985 and tried to follow those instructions, and msg 139964, but Dell Printers does not show up under programs.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

PS3 is PostScript level 3. It is a printer language from Adobe that competes with Hewlett-Packard's PCL printer languages.

PS3 mean PostScript level 3. It is the default installed driver on your system. You need to install the PCL driver. (I recommend installing the PCL5e driver and not worry about the PCL6 driver.)

I think you can install or change the printer driver using the Dell Printer Web Tool that comes with the printer.
