laptop question
I have a Dell laptop and my other laptop just died. It seems like a power problem. manual doesn't cover this question. I leave my power cord plugged into my laptop 24-7 and was wondering if that could hurt my battery or if it's bad for my laptop. I do that because on the Dell the screen is dim when running on battery and it's a pain to plug and unplug when i turn it off, a wire management problem.
thanks, Larry

A laptop is made portable for convinient and light uses. Your dead laptop might just have a bad power plug socket or the inverter/transformer on the motherboard due to overheat from prolong plug in.

Re: laptop question Ndwa I wonder
if the problem I was having was from it being pluged in all the time this is my first notebook they changed my motherboard 3 times and suppose to repaired the 4th time they did note what could had caused it but it did get heated the fan stayed on more a year after I purchased it.
I think I'll disconnect the new one the 17" used a lot of battery power

Re: laptop replacement at CompUSA
My notebook replacement approved I was happy I could buy a protection on a replacement. I asked her since she is a tech manager in their tech department at CompUSA should I unplug my notebook powercord. She said no I didn't have to unplug it because it goes into a sleep mode.
I was wondering if it cause the problem to my motherboard she told me no it didn't. CompUSA replaced my computer without sending me through any changes. I asked for a HP notebook I wanted to step down to a 15" I agreed to the HP DV6120

I've had Dell laptops for several years - in my experience, leaving them plugged in does not damage the battery or the motherboard. When I was working in the corporate world, I had a Dell laptop on my desk plugged in 24/7 for two years without a single problem...
