long distance service
Can anyone recommend a good long distance service? I tried Vonage but they are not in my area yet.

Mary: I use Upfront Teleclub out of York, PA. 8 cents/min in state and 6 cents/min for the rest of the USA. I only use them for my fax machine and use my cell for all other long distance. Verizon wireless gives me 700 mins per month + free nites & weekends + free to anyone I call who also uses Verizon. Teleclub= 888/873-7668.

I do use my cell for long distance - except when I'm not home hubby can't make long distance calls. Wasn't a problem until his dad moved out of the state. We only have the one phone line in the house with the fax line. I was using a calling card from a store here local - 5 cents a minute but he is getting tired of that card. I have to use it for my fax line if it isn't a toll free number. I get so sick of all those extra taxes and fees they charge you. My cell is 1000 minutes for $40 but by the time I get hit with all the taxes and charges it's $54 a month. Why don't they just say $54 a month instead of $40?

Tired of card... easy to solve...
Just program the number to call and the card number and all that crapola into speed dial. Depending on the phone you may have to use two speed dials... or get a better phone.
It's unlikely you'll get a service cheaper than cards. Refillable cards are nice that way cause you don't have to keep messin' with the speed dial.
