new one for me

okay guys so here's a new one for me. A signing co asks me to do a signing we go back and forth until we both settle on a fee we can both accept. 30 days go by and they send the check saying that they were docking me $25.00 for not faxing them back anything, but I know I did because I keep notes on what I do for each co.So I guess now even though you get a conformation on what they will pay you, you need to know that they still might not pay you what you both agreed to in writing! Sorry I just needed to vent!

I would be livid

Here's what I would do. I would call the TC and ask if there had been any problems with my work on this closing. If not, I would let them know about the deduction in pay and name the SS on this board and all others.

As well, if there's no mention of a deduction for a failure

to fax back (which doesn't apply in your case, anyway) they can't now claim a right to do so.

What about an LD charge for a call to their fax number? In my experience, they don't all use toll-free numbers, and you should have the phone bill by now if there was a charge.

Did you keep the fax confirmation? That might help, I always do and attach it to the file. It stinks when they pull slick ones on you like that.

spoke with title and like I already thought, there were NO mistakes on my part made! The name of the co. is Top Notch, who is now not Top in my book!

Don't let it go.

Fax them your fax confirmation report so they have PROOF that you did it. And demand the $25. Don't let them get away with this.

I had a similar incident, wherein a lender contacted me directly to do a double signing (two loans). We agreed on the fee, I did the signing. The next thing I know, the lender is calling me stating that I "forgot" to date something on one of the loans, and now he is not paying me for anything! I refuse to accept work from a new company now unless they pay up front. We have no idea how these people pay when accepting work. I just got paid for a company that refused to pay me for over a year, with no explanation. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau, and then contacted the lender directly letting them know that the signing company they hired is not paying their notaries. Shortly after that, I finally got paid. Now they have the nerve to call me again to do signings! I refuse. The name of the signing company is Signature Plus - stay away from them.

I would ask them why they didn't contact me the next day to ask about the faxbacks. Surely if they were missing they'd call you to get them faxed before you shipped the package back? See what their response is to that and just try to keep shooting holes in their lame arguments.
