ok, here's the deal...

last week I accepted a signing for my zip code, $125.
Got home and had several e-mails with attachments then the last one said to ignore all the others. It was called updated docs for so&so signing. The LO called me as I was sorting thru the mess and he walked me thru the process of what to print. I was told to go with the e-mail from so&so and not to bother with the others. He even went so far as to look for the HUD in the new pkg, as it was sent as a seperate attachment in a former e-mail. He found it, "page 18" and said just print this out and don't woryy about the others.
Lo and behold I get three attachements today (including HUD) in an e-mail and the sender who is the same person that confirmed all this writes...."we did not recieve any of these docs in the pkg you sent back, we need these signed for funding tomorrow.
In the interest of keeping this company, I plan to do it of course, but not on my own dime. There are about 14 pages to print and copy for the borrower. What's a fair charge to go back out again? I'm having a brain cramp over this and need to call the company back and then the borrower to go meet him wherever is convieneant for him tonight.

I once had a similar incident

and when the SS called me I guess I was a bit hesitant because one of the first things they said to me was "we don't expect you do to this for free, we'll pay full fee". I quickly said that wasn't the issue, I was trying to mentally figure out "what went wrong". We were all happy and I was able to catch it on the way home from the market.

Charm

How much stress, frustration, and headache do you get from reading multiple pages of instructions (including threats of docking your fee) so that you will not screw up.

What you would charge here is compensation for pain & sufferring....Cha ching!

No one answered your question...

I'd probably ask for $50.00 as long as it's within about 10 miles or 15 minutes' car drive one way. That makes the total fee of $175.

Thank you! That's what I was thinking.

Re: No one answered your question...

I charge $15 travel/service fee for my zipcode, and then I would add the $10/notarized signature fee (CA fee). I don't know what your notary fee is in AL, but as a total fee to charge, I wouldn't charge less than $25. JMO

When receiving info from a LO, I always

call back the hiring entitiy to double-check the information.

Had one situation where instructions state "do not go without HUD". Call comes in from LO, "oh, HUD won't be ready tonight. Just go & I'll fax to bwr in the am -- they already know about this situation & are ok with it." **Conflicting information, huh?** Well, I call hiring co & relay the info regarding HUD. Guess what their response is? "ABOLUTELY NOT!! We don't get paid if HUD isn't signed with docs." Meaning I DON'T get paid if HUD isn't signed with docs.

Being the resourceful NSA that I am, I brought my laptop & portable inkjet printer with me (I made sure to ask if I could use inkjet for HUD before attempting this feat) to print out doc when it finally arrived.

You must always be thinking about covering your bases (CYA), because you may be led astray.
