photos a notaries duty?
Does anyone know if taking pictures of a home for a home equity loan is part of a notary's duties?

No, it not a part of a notaries duty. A notaries duty are outlined in the SOS Notary Handbook. On the other hand as a SIGNING AGENT, your duties could include taking photos of homes, etc if you have agreed to do so. I would suggest that you charge extra.

Well Jeepers Susan
And all this time I thought I wasn't paid due to minor error and major attitude. Now that I see that she has a history of payment problems, I feel she deserved my ..um... reluctance to cooperate!

Carmen - if this is a request from Priscella at Professional Notary Service you may not get paid for 10-12 weeks. This is the only time I was asked to take pictures, and another notary was also asked by them to take pictures with long term payment.

It is not your duty as a Notary Public. As a Loan Signing Agent, sure for an extra fee. Actually it is the appraisers duty to take photos. I would bet this is a loan for a manufactured home and the market value was arrived at by BPO.
