renewed commission

I renewed my commission (FL) ahead of time (it was up in Feb 07) and just received my new stamp. It has a new commission number on it. Can I start using the new stamp? or do I have to continue using the old one until Feb? The old one is running out of ink and I have had a lot of bad luck with reinking in the past. PAW, Sylvia ... any thoughts?

No, you cannot use your new stamp until the effective date of your new commission. The stamp must have your commission number on it, which is different than your current commission number. Your new commission has an issue date of 2/16/07, and your current commission expires on 2/15/07.

From the Florida Governor's Reference Manual for Notaries, 2001, pg 8:

"Continue using your current notary seal through the end of your current commission. If you are reappointed, you must not use your new notary seal until the first day of your new commission. Destroy your old seal to prevent its misuse."

PAW you are the greatest

You probably actually read all the BS on this board and when someone really needs some help from someone who is knowledgeable you pipe in. Your professionalism and wisdom does not go unnoticed. I don't offer much here but I sure learn a lot from you.

Thanks, PAW!

I should have looked at the manual for the answer myself, but I didn't realize it would be in there. I appreciate all the help you've given.
