A number of "1sts" today

First signing I've had where bo's read every word, every page. 2 hours 15 minutes.
First payment received within 5 business days.
First SS to notify me they will require background check by Dec. Just in their data base, have done zero signings for them and requested they remove me from data base.
First I've heard this: a fellow NSA north of me checked her credit report, discovered an SS has checked her credit 6 times in 12 months. What is that all about?
First hard freeze, I think fall didn't make it this year.

wow on the SS credit checks! That is horrible, it can really bring your score down. Imagine having that info in the hands of any employee who wants to look at it. What the hell are they thinking? A good agruement for having an EIN!

Just another example of the inequality of treatment that

tnotaries get from the SS. The SS seem to believe that they are entitled to whatever information they wish to have but as the notary who is providing the service: just ask the SS for a reference and they treat you like you should be ashamed for even thinking of questioning their character. Yet some of the biggest problems in this industry are the SS!

Probably the biggest error they make is estimating travel

time. 30 miles from me could take 45 minutes, could take 3 hours depending on the season. It's a hoot when they say "it's such a short distance on the map", ya gotta laugh. One mistake I made in my initial post, wasn't an SS that checked her credit, it was one of the companies mentioned on the NNA site as now requiring the BGC. She said that she called them on it (she does alot of work for them) and they said it was a common function for them but they apologized for checking it so frequently.

Re: Probably the biggest error they make is estimating travel

No SS has any business checking your credit just because they say they need a BGC. Only authorize permission for the BGC and tell them to keep their big nose out of your credit report. It's none of their damn business.

You can stop people checking yr credit report

Go to www.OptOutPayment.com

Or dial 888-5-OptOut

Read all about it at www.ClarkHoward.com
Just put OptOut in search field.

It's free. No one can check yr credit report unless u give specific permssn, such as applying for car loan or crdt card.

Someone else posted OptOut info on this bd a few months ago. Thx to that person.

After I signed on, preapproved credit card offers stopped appearing in my mailbox in just a few wks.

Sweet.

Precisely Ms. Charm:

I think most of us for our own safety uses an ein...

This background check thing really is messing things up.

Besides closing mortgages, I am sure for most of us who do not have houses, like to obtain them in the future. I don't want my score messed up unneccessarily.
