Ahhh gotta love SOX
The night before last I got a call.. at 1am from SOX. At the time, being half asleep, I didn't cathc the name of the company, if they said it at all. The call was for a closing the next night. They agreed to my fee so I said sure. Open the confirmation the next morning and sure enough it is from SOX. Different from the others in that they don't identify themselves as SOX in it, or provide their normal payment instructions. In fact, the only information on the confirmation at all was the borrowers info, and my info. Thats it. No phone numbers or contact info for them, etc. THe only way to tell it was sox was the email address [e-mail address]. I called them back, they were not open yet so I sent over a reply email stating that I was sorry but I would not be able to take the closing because... and then I listed the invoice they have open with me that was not paid. I don't hear back from them, I figure they are cowering with their tail between their legs. 4:30 rolls around and I get a call from the lender about "their 5pm appointment". After some confusion back and forth I realize they are talking about the SOX signing. No one from SOX ever called them and told them the signing was off. Obviously SOX was aware since they never sent docs over to me but can you believe they didn't even inform the lender?? Score another point for SOX's ineptness.
