Am I the only one?

Is it my imagination or are we having more and more slow pays, no pays, edocs being delivered after the appointment time and cancellations? Maybe I'm just tired after being slammed for the last 2 weeks but I've never had to spend so much time trying to collect payment as I am right now. One night last week I received edocs after scheduled appointment times on 3 out of 3 signings backing everything up and causing me to be stressed to the max. The next day I only had 2 appointments and both were cancelled. One at the table and one 30 minutes before the appointment. Every signing I had last week was with a different company so I can't blame it on one particular company. Just wanted to vent. Thanks

I find the same issues are at hand with no pay, slow pay and having to send demand letters to even the "so-called" better rated companies.

Re: Am I the only one? No...

I have been making a lot more phone calls, sending faxes, and emails, trying to get paid. Three companies from July. One co. I couldn't do a search for b/c the search feature was down when I got the call. That co. is American Deed out of Pittsburgh. Had I been able to search that day I wouldn't be in this predicament now! (They had all negative remarks.) The lady sounded so nice, too! lol Anyway, with them I am about to try the BBB for help. One of the companies came up okay on the search, Infinite Notaries. They never return a call, either. The other co. is one I deal with all the time and now all of a sudden I have to chase them, too. What a drag...

Re: Infinite Notaries in Canyon Lake

I did a signing on May 5, 2006, I got paid July 18, 2006. I call the phone 866/541-7221 and they said they " forgot "to pay my invoice.

You are not alone. I am in the process of filing in small claims court and employing the services of a collection agency for the 1st time in 5 years! I have spent more time and energy than anyone of us should have!

No, its not your immigination. I've noticed it to. It never used to be that way. For just about every invoice, I have to call, email and/or threaten to get paid. I think its the sign of the times. It could be the SS business has slowed and they're finding it harder to pay notaries. We may find ourselves in the position of playing musical chairs, where some of us will not get paid as Signing Services go under. I hope it doesn't happen but who knows. I hear some SS have already closed up shop, leaving notaries stuck. It never used to be this way but then times were better.

For the past 2 months, I have also noticed a trend in alot of fast paying co's, really taking their time to pay. I too have spent alot of time and effort making phone calls and emailing for late payment. The irony of it is that these co's keep calling me to do signings for them. I have told two of them, that if I don't receive payment for July closings asap, I will no longer do business with them. It's a shame that it has come to this.

personally I think all of us Notaries/Closers should start demanding that we get paid up front, which would mean the end of EDoc and lenders playing games with sending the paperwork. and forcing the Title and Settlement companies to start treating us with abit more respect. The Appraiser get paid by the borrower at the time of service and so should we.
