Re: Are signing in CT slow these days? Yes.

Very, especially in comparison to last year at this time.

Normally things slow down for the holidays, but this is very slow.

CT business ...

The same as usual for me (ups and downs), but then I cover a limited area and have long-standing agreements with a few good companies. My "batches" of busy are based on which lender is blanketing the state with advertising rather than EOM.

Remember: In CT you are also competing with all of Connecticut's attorneys PLUS all the non-attorney signing agents. Granted an non-attorney is paid less than attorney. BUT, some borrowers prefer to pay an attorney to personally represent them and explain the documents, including specific clauses, to them. In the case of personal representation, the attorney and the client have a written engagement letter and the attorney is looking out for his or her client's BEST interests - not the lenders. Many small or solo attorneys now have "late" nights, too.

Not trying to put non-attorneys out of business. It is just that borrowers in CT have a choice - and they know it. Also, the attorneys are advertising more and directing more attention to Unauthorized Practice of Law issues.

Yes -- slow here

but I was reminded that October's closings are August's business, so hopefully Nov/Dec will be better -- Christmas is coming & I need to SHOP!!

Re: Yes -- slow here

If that is the case then hopefully it will be busier in November. Housing sales in September were reported to be higher because of reduced housing prices.
