Attorney Notary
I am available for attorney witness situations in Southern California. You can do the notary job and have me just be there for the legal requirement as an attorney witness. This is required for property located in a few states, such as Mass, Texas, and a couple others. Often it is difficult to locate an attorney, especially on a Friday afternoon. That seems to be the time that I get calls for these types of jobs.

Re: Attorney Notary ~ Greetings Liz!
Please note that there is a bold line just below the tabbed line entitled "Rules and Guidelines" One of the rules states: "Do not advertise your own products or services without prior approval." Contrary to the above it appears that you are advertising your services. ow I don't know the breadth of the need for attorney witnesses in your area but I am sure that advertising elswhere would be a much more profitable utilization of your time.

Re: Attorney Notary - No Liz...In Texas the attorney is not
the needed item.
If you have an office, that's what they need. Texas lines of credit must be closed in a law office, title company or lender branch.
Yes, even in California...so I've been told.

But yes, a notary can sign up the loan...but it has to be in the venues I mention.

ananotary -- I believe I read BrendaTx's post correctly
that TEXAS HELOC's (even if signed in CA) must be signed in an attorney's office. Brenda, correct me if I misread your post...

Re: Brenda..Caifornia does not require lines of credit etc. be
No, of course not.
But the heloc on a Texas property requires it. No matter where it's closed. If it is on a Tx property, if must be closed in proper venue as I stated. I don't make the laws. I just learn them for my signing biz.
It's not about what the NOTARY does. It is about what is required of the LENDER to close a heloc on a piece of Texas dirt. Three locations are acceptible. whether in FL, CA, OK, or TX...so on...so forth.
If it is not done properly, the LENDER is the one with a problem.
This is not like the other states where notaries cannot close loans unless they are attorneys or have a tpl. It's about the LOCATION.

Liz, my understanding of MA law
is that notary *working for* an attorney involved in the closing can conduct loan signings. How would you be directly involved in the transaction from CA to be used in a MA signing? Wouldn't you need to be licensed in MA to act as an attorney in that state?
