Background Check
First of all I am a person with a security clearance, and I know for a fact that a company cannot do a secure background check on you if they don't have your fingerprint. So, be careful of who you are giving your information too. It is very important that you check with your state and each state have a Criminal Background check system. So I would advise you to contact your state notary commission before getting your personal information out on the street and giving away your money. Without your fingerprint a background check is worthless. THE TRUTH IS IN THE HANDS.

Re: Background Check-State of Wisconsin
Here is the website for the State of Wisconsin Dept of Justice for you WI notories. The form is in PDF or Word and it states on the form "If an individual is requesting his or her own record and wishes to guarantee the correct record is furnished, a legible inked fingerprint impression fo the right index finger must accompany this reguest." http://www.doj.state.wi.us/dles/cib/crimback.asp As for the SOS in our state, I dont know what they could do for us at this point. They do not do routine BGC's on Notaries. I think we are on our own for this one. If someone could prove me wrong I would love it.

Thank you Barbara. I was thinking the same thing. Here in California as part of the notary application process we have a background check that requires a live scan of all 10 fingers. It is performed by the Department of Justice. The NNA is spouting off something different I have been told. I have not had one title, escrow, etc ask me for this so called BGC.
