Can a notary pick up checks in Virginia

Can anyone tell me whether there is any restriction against a notary obtaining a check from the borrower to return with the loan package when requested by the title company.

Simple. A signing agent in VA must be title licensed in order to handle funds in any way. Most folks in VA are not properly licensed because most loans don't require collecting funds. Ask who you're hiring if they have any licensing and you've got your answer.
