Cheap closings & when it happened

For those of you who are "newbies", back in the good ol' days, there wasn't such a thing as a $40.00 closing. Then the wonderful NNA published an article in their magazine stating that a notary should ONLY receive $40.00 for closing if they weren't certified through them. OH BOY! I swear every tc and ss read that article and our fees got chopped, chopped, chopped.
And the good ol' NNA keeps advertising "BECOME A SIGNING AGENT AND MAKE BIG BUCKS". So not only have we had fees reduced, we've been flooded with alot of new signing agents.
There are the low ball companies that will ony pay $40.00 for a closing.. and it doesn't matter how many yrs. you've got under your belt or if you're certified or not.
So as a word to the newbies..PLEASE don't believe everything you read published by the NNA. They basically slit our throats once, and they will do it again.

Cheap closings & when it happened - thanks for the reminder

One long-timer in the Texas network has mentioned going ahead and taking the NNA up on their offer.

I understand why this person did it...they also run a very busy operation aside from signing and does not have time to read the boards, interact with forums regularly or think about the reality of what the NNA has done to the NSA over the years. It's like politics. If you don't keep up with it yourself, unfortunately someone will "spin" it out for you to see the way they want it to look.

I just circulated your post to my Tx group.

Thank you for the reminder.
