The NNA is usually the worst place for everything. You can get E&O right here, too. Check under the Notary Supplies tab. Ummmm....can you tell I have no use for the NNA? 12 years of experience talking at ya'. If you do a search on NNA, you will see that I am not alone.

Unfortunately, the NNA is the only place I can get E&O in Virginia, which is not a requirement for VA notaries but I choose to have it. I have looked all over the internet and cannot get it elsewhere. NotRot does not sell it for Virginia, either.

Copperhead, have you tried a liability bond broker, check

The Yellow Pages under Bonds - Surety and Fidelity. I am sure that they can help you out have you asked your friendly insurance agent.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will check on that when it comes time for me to renew.

Re: Copperhead, have you tried a liability bond broker, check

FYI, when my husband's E&O came up for renewal I was determined not to purchase from NNA (we need $100,000 in order to deal with some of the local title companies) and contacted my independent insurance broker. The companies they contacted (several) would not issue an E&O policy in this amount unless my husband was certified. I couldn't get a straight answer on what certification they would accept. Because time was short, we went ahead and got the policy through NNA... no questions asked! That made me kind of curious, but I didn't pursue the matter any further. Will check out the USNA next time for sure...

LCS have you checked here on Notary Rotary, for California

Notaries, I think the prices are excellent. If your husband's bond is for another profession I may be able to point you in the right direction.

Re: LCS have you checked here on Notary Rotary, for California

Charles, thanks - yes, it was for Notary E&O Insurance coverage. I thought I checked Notary Rotary and didn't find coverage for $100,000 - darn! But, the other issue was, he didn't need it for 4 years - just one year left on his commission, so I wasn't interested in a 4 year policy. Next time I will check things out well in advance of the expiration date - my error. Thank you for your comments.
