Ok, I'm confused, are we cutting 45 degree facets on the
stones, are we talking gemstones and a faceting head or are we tallking paving stones and a masonry saw or better yet a chipping hammer? Or is the Temperature down to 45 degrees??? Inquiring minds want to know!

Bi-colored qurtz is quite a rare occurrance, I know of only
two sources domestically for watermelon tourmaline (green and red) one of my favorites. One is in the Pala distict just south of Temecula in Ca and the the other up in Rumford, Maine. I've collected nice watermelon at both. Ametrine is a bicolored combination of amethist and citrine, beautiful stone!

Exactly! Have you seen the blended sunset? Purple, I'm looking for one of those.

Re: Bi-colored qurtz is quite a rare occurrance, I know of only
I've only seen Ametrine at a few gemshows and I am always interested in the morphology of why the crystals grow the way they do. Amethyst is one of my favorite stones and I like the gold of the Citrine and when combined they seem to play off each other, but I don't believe I have seen anything called "Golden Sunset" it sounds beautiful! I hope to see a lot more in Tucson this Winter! What do you have for a faceter? Is it a fixed mast style or a tripod style like those used for diamonds?

Re: Bi-colored qu is quite a rare occurrence, I know of only
we have turned the work bench into a complete gem table. He's got a loritone wet grinder and polisher at one end and a lapidary at the other. We can do a lot together at one time, however being into detail work, I prefer to dremmel (sp?) matrix off and diamond cut and polish
