Help please with printing question

Before I pull my hair out...I am about to print my first set of e-docs on a new printer - Brother MFC-8860DN. I purchased this printer because of letter and legal size capabilities. Now that I'm going to use it, it appears as though it cannot differentiate automatically between the two sizes. How do others deal with this, do you view each doc and print all of one size first and then the next? I'm about to lose it...help, please.

Cindi, I'm assuming these are PDF documents through adobe acrobat. When you print the documents, there should be a checkbox marked "Choose paper source by PDF page size." That should help. If not, email me. Good luck.

Maybe at this point you may want to call hiring comp and ask if you can print on legal to save your sanity. When I first set up my printer to print both letter and legal I run some test pages through to make sure it was working properly. Someone had test pages just for this purpose. It might of been PAW(might being the operative word here). Just a suggestion if time is a factor here.

Cyndi,

I don't have the same printer, but you need to make sure you have set your printer properties to recognize the size of paper in each tray. If the file is a PDF, make sure you check the box in the print dialog screen that says "Choose Paper Source by PDF page size".

Thank you...however

Thanks for your replys, unfortunately the package has not been sent yet...of course, so I don't know what file type yet. Brad, thanks for the link, however they are all letter size forms, does someone have a legal size test form? Thanks again.

Re: Cindi,

I received three docs, each complete and letter size. I did chack the box to fit per PDF. Did I do something wrong? I also changed size from 116% to 100%

Re: Cindi, try

hitting the print icon in the left corner of the docs. Where you see the doc in that window there is a scroll button below there, click in that area to see the other docs, they should show up as different sizes. I hope this makes sense.

Cindi... the testfile is both letter and legal ....

There are 3 pages, the 1st is legal, the 2nd is letter, and the 3rd is lega.

Install print driver correctly.

If you have a brother and a second tray you have to install the print driver correctly so that it knows there are two trays and where to pull the paper from. If you have installed the driver before you got your second tray or there is a problem you need to reinstall it. Brother has excellent technical support. Call them and they can walk you through it.

My Brother's work great.
