Helping signer fill out application

I had an application pick up recently, which included a statement of information and I was not acting as a notary - just a loan agent's rep.
The signer was a 70 yr old lady who had a hard time holding her pen straight for signing. When I asked her to fill out the statement of info, she turned white. There was no way she could fill it out herself. She asked me if I can fill it out for her. I asked her questions and she gave me the answers which I filled in myself. I'm now wondering if it was the right thing to do, since I have never filled out any application for a client before.

I've done the same. I had an aplication and the appolicant while very sharp had a horribly disfiguring case of arthritis in his hands. I asked the questions and wrote them in. I did make him sign the 1003 as a applicable and the disclosures that need his signature but it took him an incredible amount of time to be able to complete each signature. It was sad to see.

I've also done that on SOIs, mostly for non-English speaking marginally-literate individuals. (I would have been there all day otherwise.) I usually prefer to have a family member help them - often it's the kids... ;>Wink - but I will do it if necessary. They are generally very appreciative.
