I know it's not my problem, but...
how the heck do you lose docs after someone signs them in? I did my job, tracked the pkg right back to the company and they are still looking for a scapegoat.

no, they were flabbergasted when I tracked and sent them the track # and info. Almost like I should figure out what happened here.

losing pkgs - Manure Happens ...
It's like losing anything, Charm - like your car keys - you have a normal process or routine you follow, you take steps to prevent losing them, but every now and then things don't go as they should.
Pkgs can show as being delivered, and signed for by someone who doesn't even work there - those are the worst to track down, because it means they were delivered to the wrong place, and it could be any place on the driver's route. I even experienced being in the same building as a competitor who's name was VERY similar - we would get each OTHER'S pkgs rather frequently, and not everyone on the planet is 100% moral about such mistakes.
Pkgs can land in the wrong file, scooped up accidentally. Another nightmare. Talk about a needle in a haystack! I bet this happened in my former office once a week - go over speakers for an "A.P.B." and each person had to check every single file in their posession - and there's always those people who just don't play along and won't stop working to check.
Pkgs can land in wrong dept - where new workers have no idea what it IS, don't know what to do with it, set it aside and never speak up.
One experience I'll never forget is having my corp. office 'lose' the original Notes, Huds, TILS & RTC's from over 30 pkgs. They said I shipped "copies only" NOT! They wanted them all re-closed!! I lost years off my life over that - turned out a new hire in their mail room had sorted out the collaterals wrong, all the originals were found.
Which brings to mind a personal protocol - NEVER, never, ever have more than ONE 'active' file or pkg open on your desk at one time. That's usually how single docs get misplaced.

Renee' - you say things I don't want to hear. I appreciate that. Seeing the other side is not my favorite thing all the time. However, I do trust you and your wisdom.

PS - Renee' - OT I am about to leave for Houston.
Going to see my niecelet be christened. It's a very happy Sunday!
BTW - at St. Luke UMC on Westheimer / Buffalo Speedway...if any notaries are reading who attend that church...come say "hi!"

Re: PS - Renee' - OT I am about to leave for Houston.
Thanks for the compliment - YOU often say things I'd never think of to begin with, what a mind you have! I hold you in the highest esteem, I must say not only as a professional, but as a person.
Oh do give one extra snuggle to your niecelet (how does one determine where the 'regular' snuggles stop and the 'extra' ones begin?!)
I got to have another of my absolute favorite 'Kodak Moments' in life - getting to be the one that wakes The Grandson from a nap, when he's expecting mommy. What transpires across his face .... is just IT. First, the puzzled frown ... then slowly, a tentative 'first strike' smile that is so full of HOPE that he is being gazed upon by a friendly invader. We humans are just so amazing, so fascinating. Incredible to watch as he learns that smiling 'works'.
Enjoy (and I know you will and are!) =)
