Mr. Broadbooks: A rematch of 1968!!!

Even though I was only 2 in 1968, I will be hoping for the same results of that year...

May the best team win!!!!!! Smile Smile

Yes, Sirreee!

Who'd a thunk it! It's Deja Vu all over again! At least in this series it goes to show you the old baseball adages held up...it's a game of inches & the best team doesn't always win. I just hope that at least the latter stays true for the WS. BTW, I remember the 68 series well as I was a tad bit older than 2. Mickey Lolich won 3 games for the Tigers beating Bob Gibson in the 7th game for the title.

The best team will NOT win this WS

lots of things may happen... and I guess I'm for the Tiger's...

But there's no way the best team can win...

they got eliminated by the Muts in the first round.

Next year.

So You're Saying...

...the Codgers were the best team in either league this year? I completely disagree. I've not seen a team in my lifetime with the live arms the Tigers pitching staff possesses. They have two who can bring it over 100 mph on a consistent basis & several "also rans" who can "only" run it up there at 96-98. Good pitching will beat good hitting over the course of a season every time. Please note I said "over the course of a season". A best of 7 series is a whole new animal.

Very "electric" here in Michigan awaiting the world series

Everyone is talking about the Tigers these days even if they aren't normally a baseball fan. I remember working downtown in 1984 when the Tigers won the world series. I worked on the 13th floor of a high rise and people were just pouring paper (confetti) out of all the windows from all the buildings. People were walking along the streets smiling, shaking hands, waving banners, and saying hello to everyone they passed. Black/white/thin/fat/old/young all embraced each other with the feeling that engulfed the city. I hope to see it again.

Re: Very "electric" here in Michigan awaiting the world series

Yeah, that was great, also.

I graduated in 1984 so "The Tigers roar in 84" was doubly special for me.

Also, my husband looks a lot like Kenny Rogers the Tiger's pitcher. He has been approached a few times by complete strangers letting him know. I thought they meant Kenny Rogers the singer!
