Nasco Nonsense
I just received an e-mail from someone @ Nasco regarding a signing I did for them a few days ago. It seems Mr signed with his middle initial, and it was not on the signature line that way. They told me I should check the docs more carefully or next time my fee will be reduced! Are they crazy?? I told them it was ok to oversign, not undersign. They said I should not have let them sign that way there was no name affidavit. What is wrong with people? Crazy all of them!!!

Over and under signed are forgivable on escrows and junk docs, but never on lender's docs. I learned the hard ways too.

Re: Nasco Nonsense - The problem is that it takes nothing
to be a signing service or to run one, there is no education requirement, no bonding, no licensing nothing. That is why they come and go and don't care (a lot of them anyway) and screw up and it's no skin off their nose.

They were bought by LandAmerica and now theywant to pay
$55 for a HELOC and CLIP. The clip includes the e=doc fee and the HELOC will add $10 for e-docs. We are supposed to send in a form that indicates what area we are willing to service for that fee. No thank you. My time is more valuable than that.

I am still doing them for my regular fee. I have not gotten anything from them saying they were sold to LandAmerica, and their fees are changing. I will not be lowering my fees for them, what with all the extra Deeds we have to print and notarize, and their fax backs. I still do quite a bit of work for them, but not for less!

The value of time
A NASCO clip takes about 10 minutes to sign. A NASCO HELOC takes 15-20 minutes to sign. It takes about 5 minutes to print out the docs, which are usually sent days in advance of the signing.
Yes, it sucks that they reduced their fees as drastically as they did. But the fact remains, these are easy easy signings from a company that sends out checks weekly. The new fee structure definitely reduced the area that I'm willing to cover for NASCO, and they can definitely be nitpicky about the way the docs are signed, but I sure as heck haven't kissed them off yet.
If you'd take $130 for an edoc signing that would take about 2 hours (including travel time), why not take $65 for something that you can do in an hour or less? I did one this morning, left the house, did the signing, got home, total time 45 minutes. To me these signings are nothing but easy money.

Re: The value of time
Cali, your logic is good. I don't see a problem with that type of signing for $65. It's too bad that NASCO continues to forget that there's no such animal in Texas. Every single one I have done for them is 150 pages, x 2, plus it has to be signed in certain places. Then, split the package. They still want to offer those same fees in Texas as they do in California. It's maddening.

Re: The value of time
I used to do TONS of clips for them, they were great for the 65 bucks, they take 10 mins. at most, I have been calling them wondering where they have been, maybe they don't do so many in Western NY anymore, but I loved 'em

Re: The value of time
I love working for them!
The loan signings don't take much time and I am usually back at the office (my home) in a little over 1/2 hour. I don't usually go any further than the cities Riverside or Moreno Valley to do these.
The 2 I have on Friday afternoon in Riverside are already printed and the one I have Monday morning in Riverside hit my email address this afternoon and I just need to print it.
As Brenda said: Texas is another story!!
