OT - Shipping cross country?

Hi
Any suggestions on shipping items from Tucson to Delaware? My sister is moving some stuff back east and we are looking for options other than moving companies.
Thanks in advance.

PODS can be used on-site, stored in their warehouse or moved from location to location.

Pods are great

Pods are great. I used em.

Much cheaper than moving co's.

You load them yourself.

You lock pods w/ your own locks. They stay locked until you open them at other end. Prevents theft of your stuff by mover employees.

Re: OT - Shipping cross country? Call and LTL carrier?

If you look under "Trucking" in the yellow pages you will notice that some companies advertise LTL which stands for "less than load" Yellow Freight and Inter-mountain Express come to mind and ask for a quote. Like their advertising says they accept less than full loads and go through a consolidation process for their freight. Then there are the services like FedEx Freight and DSL who also do freight and charge reasonably for ground delivery. Depending on the quantity of stuff that needs to be shipped one of those may give you some additional options.

I once read an article about some folks moving cross country

They started early with their moving prep and sent, via UPS, nearly everything they owned a few boxes at a time. They sold all the big stuff and used that money for replacement as they said dollar for dollar it cost them less to do the move this way. Also Charles is correct, I used to do LTL for a moving company and they have a division that specializes in this. It's mostly military moves but you can get a great cost break if you're shipping alot.
