OT: Tire replacement insurance

is a good thing to consider for the amount of travel we do. One of the tires was punctured with a piece of scrap metal I ran over last night. Took it to the shop this morning and they said the damage is unrepairable that it has to be replaced. Well good, it's 2 yrs old and I bought your 100% free road hazard replacement insurance when I had it installed. I spent an extra $12 on the tire for the policy 2 years ago. Today, I paid another $12 to renew the policy on a free new tire worth $115.

just be carefull.....

replacing only one tire (front or rear) can have bad effects on your vehicle. The amount of tread that is worn down on the old tire mixed with the new tread on the new tire can be enough to throw your entire vehicle out of alignment.

Whenever forced to replace it's always best two replace both. jmo.

Re: just be carefull.....JB

Thanks for the reminder, my car came with a full size spare on matching stocked rim. The new one is in the trunk waiting until it's time or another bad flat (ya know).

BTW, I graduate with an AS degree in automotive technology back in January this year.

Re:JB-I'm working at home today writing a 3 minute

presentation I will need to do in about 2 weeks at Temecula Creek Inn, first of all no one will care about the presentation, we all do the same thing, it's just to fill up time in my mind probably because the group has empty spots to fill. I wrote some, then told myself quick run and get a haircut. Did that, so the hairs working, now I'm thinking I should get you to add a little humor to the presentation.......Be kind this is for individuals that work in special ed. they don't take kindly to terms like short bus and or other derogatory comments on the learning disabled....

Andy, I'm glad this insurance

worked for you. I had a similar experience although my tire was less than 6 months old. Even though I had the coverage, the Tireman wouldn't budge on giving me a replacement because he said I hit a curb. I didn't even get a sympathy discount.

Big O stood behind their replacement warrenty when my teenager hit a curb and then again rebar in another driveway without hesitation. Two tires within a couple of weeks at no charge ...

Maybe I should have sent my daughter in to Les Schwab. Discrimination, yes, that's it! If I had been a man (they never hit curbs, right?) - or a pretty young gal - I would have probably got the new tire at no cost. I accept life as it is. Now where is my gallon of Chocolate Marble Ice Cream.

This isn't OT at all. This is very relevant.

I sleep a lot better knowing I have the premium AAA road service package. It's a must in this line of work.

Swear by it

I stumbled on to the insurance by luck. Got a used car and it needed new tires when I bought it. Went to the major discount tire change. Bought a midpriced no name set and then insurance.

Had so much construction in my state last year. I had a couple nail holes. Plus, they rotate for free. A couple more nails a little later on in the year, in the side walls and they could not be repaired had to be replaced. They replaced 3 of four tires. I believe the new insurance was $4.00 per tire.

Sometimes between signings, I have downtime and can easily get the tires rotated.

I swear by it!
