Questions from a newbie

Sox Signings...Not a good company to work for?

How about Surf City Mobile Notary? Did a closing for them in May and still haven't received payment.

What is an acceptable time frame to expect payment once closing has been complete? Most companies have been great to work with and very timely with payment, but a few have caused some headaches.

What plan of action can be taken when a TC or SS hasn't paid?

And finally, I have issues printing off packages that have been scanned and then e-mailed...anyone have any advice? It's as if I lose something in translation from the computer to the printer and bogs my system down tremendously. If I print one page at a time it works, but...

Sox --- No!

Surf City-- Never worked for them. Look them up using the orange search button

30 days is the accepted amount of time to be paid. If you were contracted from a Escrow Co it would be less.

Call, e-mail, fax and then do it again!

Scaned docs are really images and not PDF files. Make sure you have the newest drivers for your printer installed.

Surf City is slow but they do pay. Call them, then write a letter.

Hello!

Before signing-up with any company, research that company's
reputation on the various boards (it may have an "A" rating on
on, but a "F" rating on another).

If a company telephones you (for which you have no information)
you do not have to accept that job.

It's your decision as to whom, when and where you will work.

This summer I had a company which refused to pay me for a
split signing (Unfortunately, I did not receive the confirmation
in writing. Took their "word" for it. Lesson learned.).

I contacted escrow and the mortgage company.
Unfortunately, both escrow and mortgage were owned
by the same people, who happened to be very close friends
of the signing company's manager and owner.

Because no one was willing to help (and VERY rude), I informed
everyone that I would be filing complaints with the various regulatory
agencies, as well as the Better Business Bureau and news media
(both electronic and print).

Within three days, I received my payment.

Each signing agent will respond differently as to payment issues.

Some notaries will continue to invoice. Others will file small claims
suit. Some will fax daily "Demand" letters. Still others will file
reports with the BBB. And some will contact title, escrow
and/or the lender.

Some will move on and not let this bother them.

It all depends upon you (and to the amount of money owed).

Also each company pays differently. The shortest time I have
received payment, was within the week. The longest time,
2 1/2 months. The average 4 weeks (Having started loan
signings this year, I work mostly with signing companies.).

If payment issues are a major concern (as it should be),
always inquire into a company's payment polices before
signing-up and/or accepting the assignment.
