Ran out of Ink!!!

Hello everyone....question...The last time I notarized something which was about a month or so ago it seemed like my stamp might have been running out of ink. I don't notarize much so it slipped my mind. Well tonight after I put my stamp on a doc only 3/4 of my stamp was on the paper. Everything was there HOWEVER, the month and date of when my commission expires was pretty faint. Now I know all stamps must be legible but considering that there was a faint image of the month and date that COULD be read if looked at closely and the year, name and actual stamps was clearly there is that good enough or did I just make a big no no?......I'm guessing a NO NO......help!

They can get weird about this so, first, re-ink your stamp. Leave it sit 15 minutes or so while the ink soaks in. Test it to be sure it's looking good. Draw a single line diagonally thru the 'too light' stamp and initial it. Now stamp the doc again. You're good to go.

Marshall, I don't know about your state, but in Florida the stamp has to be "reproducible" in addition to being "legible". If you were to copy or fax, would you still be able to read it? If the answer is no, then you need to redo.

Re-Inked.....now what?

Ok so I re-inked my stamp this morning. Now since I notarized this doc yesterday and say I do get a call saying that it does need to be stamped again would I just re-stamp it with my intials and the date when I re-stamped it or do I have to attach an all purpose ack and notarize it all over again?

Re: Re-Inked.....now what?

Now, if you have to re-stamp it later, then what you do is .... fix your own mistake, which you should have done at the time of the original stamp problem, anyway. No one is re-signing the doc in front of you on a different date. Good luck to you! ;-)
