Running out of Ink...Part 2

Ok so I ran out of ink in the middle of a doc I was notarizing last night. The stamp was almost 100% legible except the month and day was pretty faint. I did get some feed back from some people on here and it did help, but my question is......since I notarized this doc yesterday and say I do get a call saying that it does need to be stamped again would I just re-stamp it with my intials and the date when I re-stamped it or do I have to attach an all purpose ack and notarize it all over again?

I would line through the original image. Then re-stamp the document.

Nothing about the date changes. The borrowers didn't reappear before you on another date, your just correcting a bad stamp. Cross out the old stamp and place a fresh one. That's all.

When you cross thru the old stamp, that is what you are initialing. I wan't quite sure you understood that.

Sorry Sorry.....One more question

Just want to make sure I don't screw things up even more......I called the gal and told her that I would re-stamp her doc for her but if my memory serves me right I don't think there was enough room for me to place another stamp. Should I attach an all purpose ack form? If so, then would I put a line thru the old notorial wording and write a little blurb like "Not legible. See attached ack"?

Marshall, I don't know the answer to what you are asking, but to others in the thread...I don't line through my first impression. When I was a young notary, an old gentleman who was 90+ as well as a notary told me that I did not need to worry about the lining out, just notarize again. It was his deed, and he was the signer so I took his advice. I have had to do a few re-do's over the years and I simply restamp and do not worry about the lining out or initialing. The less mess the better for me.

Really? I thought you always had to line thru anytime you attach an ack/jurat?

all the reason i use a crimp seal and i really don't worry if i have enough clear space or not... have never had a doc not record because seal wasn't completely in a blank space...after 42 years i am not going to change..............

parturiunt montes, nascetur ridiculus mus

just stamp the damned thing... if you have to attach a certificate write "See Attached Certificate" near where you notarized.

On to bigger and better problems.

Re: parturiunt montes, nascetur ridiculus mus

I know my questions might seem or even be a bit ridiculous to the pro's but I just want to make sure I do a good job......thats all. Thank you for all your help!
