Signatures Plus, DENIED

Just thought I would share...

Did a closing for Signatures Plus back in July which they still havn't paid for, I got a call to do a closing for them today. Can you say DENIED?!? I told the woman that they need to pay for thier overdue invoices first.

What a good feeling!

Trust me, I'm not trying to be a wise a$$ BUT

From your previous post of receiving a $500 check for a signing you don't remember, somehow your credibility went into the dumper with regards to who pays and who doesn't.

Again I apologize for sounding like a snob, HOWEVER

everyone's input is vital if we're all going to survive in this industry. I have learned to listen to this forum, pay attention to tips they pass along both negative and positive and no, your personal business behaviors is of no interest to me....however your opinions are. And yes, my bookkeeping is perfect, I expect to survive.

NO,

No,

negative feedback is one thing. telling someone thier credibility is in the "crapper" is just childish and mean. did you ever think that maybe someone else made a mistake in sending me a check for $500.00? i would guess thats the case, since i dont remember taking a job for $500, which would have been the highest fee i ever got.

Credibility? Or responsibility.

Brian, why don't you call and ask the sender about the check? If it's for a signing that you may have done, but were negligent in keeping a record of it, a simple phone call may jog your memory. If the check was sent in error, then you should return it. Am I being too logical here?

Re: NO, Okay - MA_SA

Either you got a $500 and you remember negotiating for that amount.

OR

You got paid too much and you need to send back the extra.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Such is the mentality you are dealing with. You might have an
explanation for how this should be looked at differently, but 'til
then, you are either
Lying
OR
Dishonest enough to keep money not yours.
---------------------
Hope that makes sense.
Re: NO, Okay - MA_SA - I am not saying you are doing
either...the point is, that based on your WORDS this is what I concluded. Of course, there may be more to the story.
You have to understand there are those of us who have spent time agonizing over $5...how to get the $5 back into the proper hands. I did a job for $175. It was a no sign. I had agreed to take half. Got my check and it was $175. Stomp, stomp, stomp over to the computer. Wrote the man a check for $82.50.
Maybe that will give you a little light on the subject as to 'credibility."
Re: MA_SA I don't think Sue intended anything in a negative
tone but record keeping is extremely important. I recently got a check for signing I knew the minute I saw the name the ss listed was not a signing I did. I called the ss and said either I owe you money or the name is wrong, as it turned out the name of the signer was wrong but just above(in their spreadsheet) the actual name on the signing I did do, I knew immediately that they may had confused the name of the actual signer....no big whoop. If I did do a signing for 500 buckaroos you can darn well bet I'd remember that one and be planning on when that puppy arrives, and just what I'm going to treat myself to.
Re: Trust me, I'm not trying to be a wise a$$ BUT
Just an honest question for you, Sue and the others who seem to have instant recall of past postings... how do you do it? I am being serious... do you do a quick search of the the poster or keep a "cheat sheet" of posters that you are going to be watchful for?.... just curious... I do remember that $500 signing issue, but for the life of me could never have remembered who posted it.
OOPS! Sorry... I see that you are probably refering to the $500 mystery signing posting yesterday! I am thinking of another one from several weeks ago. I'm going to go do a search now! Wink
Merry,
I see your next post...but for the record, I ...
...usually remember what someone wrote here if it was unusual or something I could learn from; and more than not, who wrote it.
...don't keep a cheat sheet.
...do use the search at least once a day.
I won't ever work for them again, ever. But that's me. Even if they pay you, which will most likely take a long long long time, if you do get a check, take it to their bank because they bounced 2 checks to me. Their bank is not located in my state or that's where I would have taken them. They made good on the bounced checks, but it was way too much drama. I learned my lesson though, I always check the forum for information on companies when a new one calls me.
Brian, how do you know they never paid you for this signing in July? You stated in a previous post that you received a $500 check that you do not remember doing a sining for, yet you remember a signing from Signatures Plus (which I am sure was no where near that amount). If you don't keep accurate records, how do you do your taxes. This is a business and money earned should be reported, it would be impossible to do that without proper record keeping. I don't think that the other people in this thread were being mean or snobbish to you at all, they are simply giving you there opinions which simply differ from yours.
I am a notary in Montana who only does a few notary signings a year. Just for some extra money on the side. Unfortunately and unknowingly, I took a signing from Signatures Plus back on October 2, 2005. It involved 1 hour of travel each way, and was for a measly $55.00. It was on a Sunday and of course I got the whole sob story about how I was the only notary they could get ahold of. (Now I know why -- Yes, I am pretty new to the business.) Obviously, I completed the signing. Payment should have been mailed within 30 days of the signing, apparently. After 30 days, I started e-mailing, faxing, and calling to get payment. All I got was the run around. For over a year. I believe the owner's name is Melanie or Melody. A couple of months ago, I finally talked with someone named Debbie (apparently doing the bookwork for the business) and she assured me that she would see to it that my payment was made. I just got home from work today, and the check is in the mail. A whole $55.00 check. Over a year later. From the sounds of it, I should attempt to cash it right away, since I have heard that they like to bounce checks. And it was only for $55.00. I will not do work for them again, and I strongly advise that all Montana notaries stay away from Signatures Plus. I called so many times to their 1-800 number, though, that it probably cost them more than $55.00 on their phone bill. I will be very aware from here on out.
