Techie advice needed
I want to be able to use my QB program on all the different computers I use. Would a thumbdrive be useful for this? If so, would I just back up QB to the thumbdrive and have the information available to take to the next location? Many times I accept an assignment on the road and don't have time to return to the office to print the required invoice. Any advice for me?

I would think that a jumpdrive would be helpful for what you're looking to do.
When I run into a situation like this, I do things the old fashioned way. I keep blank invoices in my briefcase that I can fill in by hand. Once I am back to my office I enter the information into the system.

Are you talking about backing up and transferring only the invoice portion of the database or the entire thing each time? Have you look into the multi-user feature in QB? Otherwise, I'd be cautious about the use a jump drive, data loss and file corruption may occur if it's not properly power off before unplugging.

Using a USB external drive for data is always an option. However, running an application from it may cause problems, depending on the installation parameters of the program. I do not know if QB installs all its files in its own directory, or installs some files in the Windows system directories.

What about this:
Installing QB in both computers, and backing up to CD, and adding to both? You know I am not good with this, but just trying to figure out how to keep this on both, updated. Nothing like being 50 miles from the office and trying to recall billing information.
