Welcome lisaky
Don't get discouraged by the negative discussions on this board. There is great information here that will help you in your signing business. Daytime talk seems to be the most professional. If you're on this forum in the evening or on Friday/Sat nights, it seems to get more heated (must be the sip and click factor).

I think its really sad that people have to feel the need to guard themselves with their posts or else they will be savagely attacked. Kim/CO and LisaKY, you have a friend here in me. Look me up and email me anytime if you have a question. I will never attack you or talk down to you. And yes I know what will come from THIS post.

Mr. Davis, I think you're out of line (my opinion only)
Neither Kim or Lisa were asking questions, they were making statements. They both say they are new to the business and new to NotRot. NO ONE turned their back on a question, refused to help or put them down. The posters merely answered in like, if anyone was attacked it was the general membership. And you Sir, I'm disappointed in you. When you first entered NotRot you were given tons of assistance. The only times you've gotten into a war with anyone was over political issues, a far cry from notary business.

I agree with Sue
Maybe the meanies should just start posting a link to Mr. Davis' email address when a so-called profesional newbie with potentially tender feelings needs to find out how to get business, etc, etc, etc. This is a forum for professionals! Professionals do their research with out needing hand-holding. I have never gottenmy feelings hurt here, even as a newbie, but then again, I did my research before asking. JMHO not be construed as meanie OR legal advice.

That's exactly what I mean, Sue. I contacted Jahari and gave him a link to my RM book, etc. etc. I am perplexed.

Re: Mr. Davis, I think you're out of line ~ Sue
I as well emailed Jahari with a few websites etc. when he first came on board here. I wanted to help him because he seemed so enthusiastic. It wasn't until he started all the political BS that I started to see a different side.
I really try not to personally attack anyone ( I have before and regretted it ). I have offered to help new people and made myself available via phone many times. I wish people would stop being so touchy feely around here. This place is for working together not a big Group Hug!~

Re: Mr. Davis, I think you're out of line (my opinion only)
Sue, I'm sorry you feel I crossed a line but I think you misunderstood my post. You are correct, I was given lots of assistance with questions I've had. I've even offered aid and support to new notaries and advocated for newbies to find mentors, turn down lowbal fees from TC's and SS's, and use a 1 year NNA membership and certification for what its worth...a marketing tool. I've also seen how some people respond to new notaries asking questions and some of those responses are down right nasty. Some responses to questions from experienced notaries are downright nasty. The one thing sorely lacking on this board has been civility toward each other. I include myself as one of those that had a part in a loss of that civility and for that reason, I've tried to bring it back. My 9/11 posts for each persons 9/11 stories and 30 minutes of silence was my effort to try. Sadly it failed because some thought that because the call for civility and sharing of those 9/11 stories came from me, it was disingenuous which prompted my absense from the board. My earlier post was in response to the feeling amonst people in the shadows on this forum that feel like they need to hide and keep silent for fear of attack from others and I really think that is sad.
Kim and Lisa made statements, yes. But consider that they were based somewhere in fact based on what they have read when using the orange search button.

"Kim and Lisa made statements, yes. But consider that they were based somewhere in fact based on what they have read when using the orange search button"
Well what do you know, Kim and Lisa made statements for the same reason the rest of us do - in response to what they read on the board.
You can't have it both ways. It's either acceptable to criticize people on this board or it's not. If it's not acceptable then Kim and Lisa are just as bad as the rest of us. If it is acceptable, then they have no leg to stand on because they're doing the exact same thing that they're criticizing us about doing. Which is it?

Oh lisaky, please be warned
that benign invitation does come with a terribly heavy price tag. Expensive. Loads of political fanaticism in the form of (first) political ideology. When you're tired of that? Then comes the Apologist (and not in the form of a true apology, but justifying what was previously sent). Then, you have no choice but to block the offender from your email. No fun a'tall.
Are you sure you want to accept that invitation to ask question? You'll do better here on the forum.

Reply by Jahari Davis on 10/23/06 11:43pm Msg #154655
A lesson...
Fanatacism shortened becomes fan. Fans are more knowledgable and more well informed than others regarding a particular topic and often keep their finger on the pulse of things related to that topic. Thank you for that compliment Sue. I'm warm and fuzzy all over. It far exceeds the uninformed alternative end where many others sit. Outside of that, thank you for making my case for me Sue. As for being an apologist, you clearly have mistaken me one of the uninformed that I mentioned earlier. See you on the uh....internets

Reply by CaliNotary on 10/24/06 1:37am Msg #154661
That's the best you can do?
Really? Changing fanatic to fan and then thanking her for the compliment?
That's even weaker than most of your political arguments, and that's saying quite a bit.

it takes two to argue...can we just knock it off already? Every time you post, it raises a ruckus, and you keep it going and going and going. All it shows me is that you are very confrontational. Just freaking agree to disagree and put it to rest.

Re: A word to the wise for Jahari
Let me remind you of the guidelines of this forum, by the Owner, Himself:
"Please keep off-topic posts to a minimum and avoid topics that others may consider offensive, such as politics and religion"
These are the rules. Period.
You are beholden to adhere to them. We all have to adhere to them. Your post is out of line and your post is nothing to be proud of. Fanaticism is rabid and not logical. Most Americans would be ashamed to be preparing their passports for experienceing the politics of other countries. Most Americans know them already, and most Americans are not Fanatics.
What are you? Dont' bother - it's been well documented. Please do exercise your passport to other countries. A good choice. Fanaticism is rabid and not logical. Most Americans would be ashamed to be preparing their passports for experienceing the politics of other countries. Most Americans know them already, and most Americans are not Fanatics, but love their Country.
What are you? Dont' bother - it's been well documented. Please do exercise your passport to other countries. A very good choice for you. Please let us all know when you depart the US.

A word to the unwise...
Sue, I'm well aware of the rules. My past posts were not in violation of the rules at that time and they are not in violation of any rules as they are written now. My posts are in response to you and others that seek to equate any "Jahari post" with political speech on this board. At the time of my previous posts, you and many others cited rules that werent there. I find it funny that you and others seek to point out and cite the rules to me, when you and those same others have posted comments in violation of that rule that clearly states:
"Do not personally attack, insult or degrade other users or companies. If you are going to bash a company's reputation, be prepared to provide concrete and substantial proof of your allegation. If you are going to confront another user or dispute a post, do so on a rational and constructive basis with the facts in hand. Debate is always healthy."
Please make note of the first and last sentence of that paragraph and burn it into memory Sue.
Since I've come back to this board it has been others that have colored my posts as political when they were not. I am at the point where I am certain that I could post the score for the World Series or that I saw a shot of Bush eating a chillidog at the World Series and you or someone else would find a way label it a political post. It is YOU that again tries to act the part of the ragged and intolerant old lady telling the young whipper-snapper to get out of her yard by telling me to leave MY country. Again, something I have never and will never ask nor demand of you because unlike you, I respect your right to live here. How unfortunate that someone that calls themself an "American" behaves in such a way that is patently unAmerican. How unfortunate that someone that dares call themself an "American" seeks to squelch free speech and expression that seeks to inform those that are uninformed. Motivate the unmotivated and empower the disenfranchised and disillusioned. Any American that seeks to banish and "throw" their countrymen out with their nightly garbage like you have done to me are the worst of all traitors to their country, its ideals, and its people for they have turned their back on the values they claim to hold dear. This is MY country too Sue and I'll double-damned ten times over before YOU or any pissant terrorist makes me cower in fear and leave it. I'm curious if you, Susan Shipman can say the same.

I agree with you Misty. I am tired of all the post back and forth between people. None of it has anything to do with Notary work or even the post at hand.
