What do you do when you're sick?

Do you take some medicine and suck it up? I woke up yesterday with the makings of a cold and now it's full blown. I have an appt this afternoon and I really don't want to go, but I'm going to. Just wondering what you all do when you're sickly.

It never hurts to have someone locally to have as a backup.
As for me, when I am full-blown sick, I always cancel early as possible with the hiring party.
I don't appreciate brw's who may be infectious, and I am sure they wouldn't appreciate it if I possibly infected them.
JMO, but I would cancel or reschedule or refer.

I agree with Misty...

You wouldn't want to make the borrowers sick and you could come down with something worse such as pnuemonia or bronchitis if you don't take care of yourself. Also, I once had a closing with a borrower whose wife had cancer and was undergoing chemo and radiation. They asked if I was sick or had been around anyone sick for fear that she would catch it. Refer it to an area notary or call the hiring company to see if it can be rescheduled or reassigned.

Thank you both

I'm calling them now. Once the WI network gets running, I'll have someone I'm pretty sure to refer to. Thanks for the advice. Going to take my nyquil now.

Good point....

I've run into that situation several times where unexpectedly the borrower (or someone in the household) had a weakened immune system due to chemo or radiation. One time, the borrowers had a son who had had a kidney transplant and was on all kinds of medication (anti-rejection drugs) that weakened his immune system.

Guess this is a good reminder that it's time for flu shots - which apparently are in abundance this year. I've been getting them for several years and haven't been sick at all in some time, thank goodness... (I can't be sure that's because of the flul shot, but I figure it certainly hasn't hurt!)

I agree. It's bad enough when the bwrs give us the plague you sure don't want to show up sick as a dog. If you have no back up call the hiring party Early so they can get someone else.

Hope you fee better soon.

One of the reasons Susan is successful

is because she understands that she must go to the Signing!!

We are all self employed in this business and we must go to the signing(s)!!

Make arraignments for your children to be taken care if they get sick/school/etc.

You have a cold; get off your a.. and go to work!!

Make that two votes for suckin it up

When I had a real job once every couple years I'd be so sick they'd insist I go home...even then I'd argue.

I figure it's better to be miserable at work and get paid than miserable at home for free...don't believe in giving any of my money to doctors either.

I suffer allergies of some sort or another most of the year, other than that I don't do sick much, its no fun.

Hope you enjoyed the Nyquill (yuck)

Thank god for my wife. I was only sick so bad once in the last couple of years. My wife worked a full day and did 3 signings for me after that. After that I did take any work till I was better enough to drive and see people.

Too funny Doc and thanks everyone!

At my last workplace, I would also suck it up. They didn't pay sick days, we had to use our pto (paid time off) for that, and we would get a point for calling in sick. Always a point for unscheduled time off. So I would go in sick. The Branch manager would say "Why didn't you stay home?" To which I would respond, "When you stop giving out points for being sick. If you're gonna make me suffer with a point, you can suffer with my illness."

Actually am feeling a bit better. I have now turned down 3 other jobs for tonight. It figures. Slow during the week and the day I'm sickly, I get called the most. Murphy's law and all that.
