Who's selling my info

I live in WA but also have an office address in OR for doing business there. I had 2 SS whom I only done a couple signings each about a year ago, and my checks were sent to the OR address. I'm getting very annoyed at the massive credit & finance junk mails being sent there since last month.

Beside the 2 companies above, my OR address is listed here and 2 other well known listing site (GMM, 1-2-3). Who's the guilty one(s) and is there anything I can do about it?

that's interesting Andy. I've been getting a TON of junk mail over the last two weeks. I thought it was my mistake by 'accidently' opening one.

Re: Who's selling my info - Hi Andy, there's probably

not a lot you can do about it but a quick way to find the perpetrator is to add an identifier to you address. Andy XXXXX, Department 25, Amorous Way, Rose City OR. The Deparmtent 25 you change each time you list your address and make it 25, 26, 27 etc. Another way wold be to use an alphabet identifier such as Andy XXXXX, Dept NR etc for Not Rot, Dept 123 for another and Dept GMN etc.. A lot of companies use this to identify where their response is coming for advertising but it should work in this case too. Unfortunately one thing that many of the anti-spam rules are based around is having or not having a business relationship, even the do-not-call list is based on this. Good luck!

Re:With regard to checks being mailed to the incorrect

address this has happened to me a number of times. Packages are to be delivered to the residence via FedEx, CA Overnight and UPS. Checks are to be delivered PO Box not by choice but because there is no USPS to individual homes on the mountain. I repeat this info all the time, it is printed on the invoice but I think it may show how many don't read the details and just go on auto pilot. How long of a drive it that for you to step into OR from WA to check the mail?

junk mail

I can't remember the info, but there is a way to stop (or at least slow down) junk mail. It's similar to the "do not call" phone list. There is a address to write to. Anyone out there have that addy?

Sylvia provided an email in message 148249

This is the message:

"I always forward them complete with headers to [e-mail address]
as well as the spam reporting address of my ISP"

Not sure if what you put in the body though. I'd love to start sending junk mail there. 300 in my bulk mail over the weekend is crazy.

link to stop junk mail

http://www.dmaconsumers.org/cgi/offmailinglist

It cost $5.00 (per person - $10 if married couple, do EACH person). I did it at least a year ago - worked FAST. Stopped everything except 'local' mailer stuff. LOVE IT!

Did you by any chance recently ...

apply for credit or cause anyone to put an inquiry on your report? I've had L/O's tell me this same thing happens to their clients IMMED. after they pull the client's report (the clients complain to the L/O's, thinking the L/O was somehow the cause).

Are one or all of the bureau's are selling lists of potential 'live' leads?

Anyway - that's the first thing that came to my mind, reading your post. How it would tie to the OR address could be relative, but only to you, Andy! I have NO clue.

I'm currently in a refi process for my home in WA. The OR address belong to my parent and I have not live there for 15 years.

I know how to stop the junks from getting to my home. The problem here is they're sending it to an address where I don't live at.

Just stop it for the Oregon address - it won't stop your regular mail there, just credit offers and unsolicited junk mail.

Harvesters: Yet one more reason why ...

... I've had my email address removed from the Site of a social organization of which I am secretary, AND have no physical address or email address on my own Notary Public Web Site.

The various 'bots that crawl the Web and harvest email addresses are evil, indeed. Those that look for physical addresses are evn more annoying!
