fee question

Please let me know if I am way off. I just got laughed at and told I was ridiculous. They wanted a 1st and 2nd refi an hour away, edocs. I said $175 because today has been slow I thought that was pretty fair and she laughed me right off the phone. Please tell me if I am way off here or not.

I don't know what your area bears, but don't let them ridicule you if that is your fee and you feel comfortable with it.

That fee sounded reasonable - the only double package I've done so far I charged $210 total ($75/$35 for first and $65/$35 for second)...and fairly close to my home..

I personally feel you didn't charge enough. My MINIMUM for a first and second within 30 miles with edocs is $165. If you are driving an hour away, I would charge AT LEAST $200. IMHO

If you feel that is a fair fee then do not be intimidated!

Three things jumped out at me: "1st and 2nd", "an hour away", and "edocs". Putting all three things together, I'd say your fee was reasonable.

I probably would have charged $200 (+), but driving for an hour in the SF bay area only gets me about 3 blocks away (slight exaggeration.) But the main point is to maintain your fees in a range that keeps your business profitable.
You will be lowballed out of some business, but by taking it at a lower fee it most likely would have cost you money... what kind of business sense is that?
And as far as being *laughed at and told I was ridiculous*.... you don't want to do business with a company that treats people like that anyway!

I think you were way too fair. Sometimes it doesn't pay to comprimise. I would have charged that much just for the signing...what about travel and printing? So let them find a newbie who needs it.

Wow Kathy, how you can ask elementary questions on this board, and stilll command fees like that, I'm impressed. Good for you!
