hmmmm...

what to do?
This is a first for me. Got a call from TC on a signing I did last week. It appears that I missed notarizing two docs, Apparently I signed them but no stamp. I am surprised at myself if this is true.
Now they want me to send in 2 gen acks...should I ask them to fax me the originals?

This only happened to me once and the company volunteered to fax the one that I missed the venue on. I couldn't believe I had missed it, but I did.

Yes, you deserve to see if you really missed something. I'd ask them for the fax. No sense sending out all purpose acks for something you don't know is true.

I had this happen recently and they sent the copy of the doc with the missing stamp along with their request.

I'm with Ted. I would, nothing wrong with asking to see the errors, in a nice way of course. Plus, then you could put down the name of the doc on the acknowledgement as well. Smile

it was the name affs that I didn't notarize, we'll see. I'm going to put myself in the corner for a time out if I did this.

One time lender called me saying that the borrower missed her middle initial in her name. I asked them to fax me the paper in question. Yes they were right! borrower missed the middle initial. I had to go back and have them signed again and I had to pay for the FED EX shipping. But in your case OF course ask for a copy of the missing stamp. In my case I had to drive 60 miles RT to get one simple letter in the document.

I'm a member of the club Charm, like everyone else I was mystified how I missed it but my contact instantly faxed the doc to me and yep yep, there it was in glaring black and white. Always a humbling (?) experience and the best defense was "yep, I did it and I apologize, taking care of it immediately". She was nice enough to tell me that she's seen it happen a number of times and the important issue to her wasn't necessairly the mistake (who can change it once it happens) but how efficiently I corrected it. Much to my surprise she did NOT dock the fee, nice lady.

Could be something else

I've been asked to do this.

Turns out ea time the docs were missing from pkg sent to me. I never got em.

TC just wanted me to send an ack so they could forge sigs and add my cert.

Absolutely demand doc be faxed or scanned + emailed. Ck sigs to be certain they match your journal.

Absolutely ask that the docs be faxed/emailed to you for

verification! Like Jason, several times the TC wanted a loose ack to attach to a QC Deed or Affidavit that wasn't in the original package. Nope. Not going to send out loose certs/acks unless I am able to complete the form fully, which includes "Type of Document".
CYA, always. Of course, I've goofed a few... and have always immediately corrected my error.

Yes, request that the doc be faxed, and ...

... if it was your error then pay for the shipping and beg for forgiveness.

We're all human. As has already been Posted, it's how we handle our mistooks that set us apart!
