security - printing from kinkos

i have yet to send docs to kinkos to print but i was wondering . . . to avoid problems w/personal info, couldn't you just access your email from one of their computers and print from your email/their computer to their printer? that way you've never transferred the edocs to their computers so they don't have borrower's info right???

any thoughts?

if you open the document to print, it's on there somewhere. In a given circumstance you might decide that your only option is to print at Kinko's, but I don't see any way to make it secure.

but don't u actually have to 'save' it b/c . . .

at my work computer, if u don't save it either to your desktop or somewhere, when u close it, it's lost. so just opening it to print will 'save' it to their computer???

It might be 'lost' to you, but I seriously doubt it's no longer existing ... ESPECIALLY on cpu's belonging to corporations. I know zip-ola about how cpu's work, but I do know that my little son-in-law makes himself some nice money retrieving 'lost' data all the time (mostly from law offices, where they have all KINDS of security and safeguards and what-not).

A better idea is to have a trusty SA in your area that will allow you to bring over paper and do your print job. Another good reason to belong to a network.

As I said previously, I would first try the notary in my area that is in my network or in a big bind take the doc's on a disc to kinkos.

I believe that security problems at places like Kinkos are

much exaggerated. I believe that most identity theft is not a crime of opportunity. I suspect that the average Kinko's employee would not have the resources to sell the information to someone who could use it. Remember that the bulk of Kinko's copying is advertising materials. Most people who steal identities work in places where there are many opportunities to access identity information and Kinko's is just not it. I suspect that Kinko'd is pretty much a smoke screen for control. However you are still better off having full control of your clients' information.

You won't want to pay the price anyway!

Last Tuesday night my printer gave out. (Don't EVER replace drum just before EOM!) Andy -wa stayed up till 4am trying to help me. I had a 10 am edoc so I took my laptop to kinkos to print up. It was 77$ !!!! I went to staples got a inexpensive "back-up" to see me thru for now. That wasn't much more than that set of docs! The signing ended up being hellish too. Ended up having a great Thurs though. Glad it's over I'm TIRED
