strung along
After two hours of saying the docs would be here in the next 10 minutes now they are saying that the docs are not going to be ready till tomm. They have had me tied up for two hours, I have missed another appointment already, what is the correct course of action here? I am still supposed to wait while they decide what to do. This was a good paying job or I would have already told them to shove it.

Erica - it has happened to all of us. These are situations which you'll learn to better manage as experience comes along.
Richmond title was the only one who ever really used me like that. ServiceLink used to string me up on MIC closings and then cancel. After awhile you realize these companies are not worth the stress and thought processes you give them. If they "do" you again, then you should just tell them you do not do their jobs. It will reduce your stress level greatly
Good luck!

Stop playing their (ss, tc or ?) game (s). Set your drop-dead time for docs (1 hr., 2 hrs. or ? before signing appt. time) stick to it and get on with your business and life. I find this approach to eliminate most of the stress. Just out of curiosity, what is a "good paying" job ($____) in your area?

It was 32 miles away, all interstate, first refi only and $200 and it was a signing service. I was just wondering at what point you tell them "I am out" I guess I should have a deadline for the docs. Never had a problem like this before. Had late docs plenty of times but never told they were on the way for 2 hours. Always had them be up front and honest with me.

You don't even necessarily have to tell them that you're out. You can just tell them that you have other appointments and will have to push this one back to a time later in the day, and that they can call you AFTER the docs have been sent and you'll set something up with the borrower. Then if they can get them to you and you have time available, great. At least that way you won't have spent 2 hours waiting. And if you're not available when they call saying the docs are ready, just tell them that your schedule got filled in since you last spoke to them and that you can either do it the next day or they need to find someone else.
Or you can just say "I'm out" and let someone else deal with the headache. Sometimes that's definitely the smarter course of action.

Heh, yeah, there would have to be a certain amount of satisfaction in doing that. But it can happen, definitely. I started today with 2 signings scheduled, I'm ending up doing 4 instead. These companies just have to understand that our day can't revolve around their needs and inability to do their jobs correctly. And if they're not willing to concede even that much, then we're better off not working for them anyway.

As my husband says
it's only "good-paying" if you do the job & get paid. I'd either try to negotiate a higher fee to wait around tomorrow, or make it up in other business.
