i install the software and yet windows doesnt even see that there is a printer there

what gives?

Me too

Although my problem is with an HP1320series printer with computer using Windows 2000 professional. I already have an HP 4+ installed using my parrell port. I'd like to instal the 1320 using USB so I'd have two printers available. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to install the software first before you connect the usb to your computer. The software will tell when to connect the usb cable.

I installed the HL-5150 a couple of days ago. I just connect the printer to the computer and ...voila' it install by it self, I don't know how....I was thinking that I need insert the disk provide with the printer but, I guess not.

Might want to check under device setting to see if the usb port driver is installed and is working properly.
