Curious about your loan docs...

There was a message just two days ago but now is now posted 3 pages back, Msg #184845
about how the number of pages in loan docs are increasing. I'm just curious, what is your
average size for a single re-fi? Do you charge extra if it goes well over the average?

I find this frustrating also that posts are 3 pages back and hard to find again. How many of us go back and back to find something or to read if anthing new is on that topic? How many of us just start a new thread so it is seen? Although I love this site, it is sometimes hard to find what you are looking for and if there is anything I haven't read. I wish it could be broken down into catagories like: Companies, Payment issues, Tech stuff, OT stuff and so on. JMO

About docs. No, I don't charge extra for large pkgs although I wish I could. I also know that the scheduler doesn't know either when they call. I've been getting 130+ lately also. I think anything over 100 we should be able to charge a little more. I think they are getting quite a deal having us print up to 250 pages, sometimes more for $25.

My packages have been ranging from 100 - 150 lately. Many more packages close to the 150 range. I don't charge anything additional because that is just part of the deal.

Average was 100 to 125, but seems to be increasing

Packages for me have been ranging from a low of around 80 to a high of around 135, with most being 100 to 120 pages, depending on the lender and title company. It may be that packages will increase due to the current problems since lenders and title companies will want even more "CYA" documents signed by the borrowers. Then if borrowers complain about not being fully informed about some detail or other, the lender and title company can drag out those signed documents and say "See, it's right here on this document, and you signed it."
I'll probably look for ways to cut my paper and toner expense first. I've been using brand name paper with 92 brightness, and only original HP toner cartridges for my printer in order to provide the best possible service to the companies I work with, but if package sizes increase, I could switch to cheaper paper and refilled toners. I haven't used refilled toner cartridges before since I only have one laser printer and didn't want to take a chance that a refilled toner would mess up and ruin my printer right in the middle of printing docs. That would hurt the closing and also cause me to have to get another printer immediately, which is not cheap. The HP 1300 LaserJets have come down in price, though, so I think I'm going to buy a backup one and then start using refilled toners. The savings by buying the refilled toners will pay for the backup printer pretty quickly.

Re: Average was 100 to 125, but seems to be increasing

My printing fee has gone to $35 for just this reason. It covers the added pages and the added time involved. In surfing the net I see a lot charging $50 for printing so I am still low.

I have never run into issues with refilled toner cartridges or toner kits in my HP 2200dse printer. Factory cartridges for my printer run from $95-$150 new. There is nothing in refilled cartridges that can harm your printer.

Like I said the other day

When I find out the package is almost double the average size I call whomever I accepted the job from and explain the situation. It has only happened about 5 times but every time I was able to get a higher print fee. Remember it also takes a lot longer to go over the extra 50 or more pages. I will probably just raise my overall print fee to compensate for this, especially since the cost of paper has doubled since I started and I don't see the packages getting any smaller.
