Docs to Borrower--another negative
Well, there is one borrower minus a signing agent probably fuming. I was contacted by a company yesterday to do a closing in Iowa at 10:00 this morning. The docs were to borrower. My fee was being met and the confirmation was being mailed to my e-mail address (which I verified with the scheduler). The confirmation never came through. The caller id showed "unavailable" and I can't remember who contacted me. I was speeding down the highway at the time I was called.
I was REALLY hoping that the borrower would call me to see where I am. No answer is expected. Thanks for letting me vent!

I had a closing for today, docs to borrower (it was for a mobile home) borrower never returned my call but another contact was a realtor (that set off an alarm) I found out it was a purchase (and I was not told that from the SS because they didn't know it) Anyway the SS worked it out with me when I let her know. Got to the table and borrower didn't get HO insurance which was a condition, pictures were supposed to be taken of the property (he got the camera with the documents but didn't know what it was for). Lender needed copies of the buyer and seller SS cards, they didn't have them . If I had gotten the documents I would have been able to go over the conditions before the closing. What a mess!

Wow. In either case, can a notary be blamed for walking away from the job?

Re: Docs to Borrower--In JoJo's Case.....
There wasnt any job to walk away from. She did all she could do to go to the signing. No confirmation, no job. Whoever it was that called her, dropped the ball, IMO.

I had one last Sat that the doc's were sent to the property address, not where the borrowers were (and me). No one was available to talk to on a Sat (which I find very frustrating). On Monday we worked it out and they e-mailed them to me. I got an extra $50 for this.

I have seen all these problems and more. Last month or the month before when I posted my distain for this practice I was hammered down by people who love docs going to the borrower.
I receive my overnight docs by 10AM at the latest. I have time to review conditions and eliminate any issues ahead of time; not being hit the table and maybe forcing a reschedule. Not to mention that when I get to borrower's I don't have to waste time flipping through docs looking for conditions, ink color, calls from table required e.t.c.
My bottom line is that I still hate docs to borrower.

I must have missed your post as I would have sided with you. I was slammed when I posted that I was no longer going to do work where the docs went to the borrower. It seems like every time I take such an assignment, the borrower has not followed instructions, opened the notary's copy, started to sign to "save time", mixed up the docs, used the wrong color ink .. It always seems to be something. On average, these take twice as long as average and is not worth the money. I do have the advantage of being semi-retired, so I can pick and choose.

I too had a borrower open the pkg and sign where they thought they should. This was 2 women who lived together because they are both hearing impaired. I couldn't even confirm with them because they could not talk on the phone. When I got there, they wrote on a piece of paper that they already signed everything. I called Title and we crossed out every signature and re-signed. Took twice as long much less not being able to hear me. I agree, I'm almost ready to decline any job that the doc's go to the borrower. These ladies were so nice and really thought they were doing the right thing.
