F****** people, part deux

So I've been away from computer the past day or so, and if I respond to the all the great posts, its likely no one will see it, so I have to create a sequel.

The same night this happened, I researched it and according to our Dept of Licensing, when a stamp/seal is stolen, you have to notify them in writing, via certified mail. (great, I have to spend money to replace all this stuff, and on top of it, I get to send you a $6 letter). After that, you can replace the stamp or seal, but it has to have some variance to the original (I'm somewhat happy about this, I can now get it without my full middle name!).

So, does this mean that since it was my embosser taken, that the stamp is still okay, or does it mean that the stamp is no good too? I'll let you when I get the answer tomorrow.

Luckily, this isn't my only business venture or source of income, as I am a part time process server (let me know if any of you ever need to serve those no-pays...I'll do it for you cheap!), and also have a full-time daytime job.

This board, and especially the people on it are the best!

Am I missing something there?

My stamp at this point has my full name, and I am hoping if the DOL requires me to vary the new stamp from the old, then I can have just my middle initial.

I don't know for sure that I'll be able to do this, as it would also require them to send me a new certificate. I'm not sure what else you could vary on the stamp/seal, unless I had a rectangular one, rather than round I suppose.

I may not have had enough coffee yet, but--why can't you just report the embosser as stolen and continue to use the rubber stamp? I'm in AR--I don't even own an embosser--what do I know about WA....

Re: F****** people, part deux-In CA it would be my opinion

you would need to replace both, embosser and stamp. I have my middle initial and of course first and last name and I wish I had not inserted my middle initial when applying for my commission I do hope to delete it when I renew.

Variance of design only!

In NC the variance concerns the design. The name format remains the same based on your application format. Notice must stipulate which design was stolen, thereafter any transaction with the missing design is deemed illegal and denied. JMHO.

Re: F****** people, part deux-All righty then, you are

almost good to go. Part Deux...cute like your sense of humor and recovery plan, way to rise above it all and make it a positive!

Re: F****** people, part deux-All righty then, you are

Here is the response I got via email, from our Dept of Licensing:

"The variance cannot be any change to your name. You can have a star or asterisk added to differentiate it from the stolen one. Your stamp is okay to use."

So, there ya go. Guess I'm stuck signing my middle name.
