Finally...a truthful SS

Got a call from a signing service. Quoted my fee. The scheduler said, "The maximum I can go is $100. I'll have to see if I can find somebody else."

No "I'll call you back later." No "I'll have to check with my supervisor." No "Let me see if I can get that approved," all while thumbing through her rotary to find a cheaper signing agent. That was the first time, in the 4 1/2 years I've been doing this, that an SS scheduler has actually been honest.

It was so refreshing that I almost was willing to take the signing at her price just as a reward for her forthrightness. Then commonsense reasserted itself, and I went back to my nap. A guy has to keep his priorities straight.

fine and dandy, but you didn't ask if she had a bass boat or a liquor store? You're slippin....

Had a company call me today, has a great payment history and folks seem to like working for them. Just it was a low fee for EOM (below service link low)

He said to check the boards and he was right about the companies rep, but at the fee offered I could not say yes. I'm sure someone will scoop it up and do it. Heck a round trip from end of my town to the other is almost 20 miles.

Wish things could of been different.

I had a co the other day not happy w/fee. They wanted me to travel over 30 miles on a Friday night in the middle of a Nor'Easter & would not even verify time (after 8pm or maybe later) because borrower was not sure what time she could make it back from NH to MA w/the weather. I told her that was my fee, non-neg. Of course, she said she would "look into it." About 1.5 hrs later she calls to tell me she found someone willing to do it cheaper. I told her that was great!!! Hey let them go out in the middle of the storm. I didn't care about the job, too much hassle, but I couldn't believe that she would actually call back to rub it in my face that she found someone cheaper. And she said it like she had a smirk on her face.
